Brain Teasers
Word Games
The language allows many fun opportunities to play. It's REALLY fun to combine words that are spelled the same, and pronounced the same, but have different meanings. And it's even MORE fun when you can make a meaningful two-word phrase out of them.
Example; a *fair fair* could be an *attractive carnival*. One meaning of *fair* is lovely, attractive, appealing, etc. Another meaning of *fair* is an exposition, carnival, celebration, show, mart, exhibit, bazaar, etc.
These are called homograph-homophones; same spelling, same pronunciation (sound), but different meanings.
Below are some possible definitions or descriptions for paired homograph-homophones. What's the two-word pair for each? I've done the first one.
1. A swatter for a winged mammal. (bat bat)
2. A featherweight floor-lamp.
3. King of the domain of measuring sticks.
4. Fall into Grand Canyon on vacation.
