Threading a NeedleSituation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.
Many, many years ago when there used to be kings and royal foundations, there was a person who went to the king to show him what he could do the best. The king agreed to watch. The man took out a sewing needle from his pocket and stood it on the ground. Then he went ten feet away from the needle and took out a piece of thread from his pocket. He let go of the thread in such a way that it ended up getting inside the hole of the sewing needle. The king smiled and ordered his men to give the person 100 gold coins and then punish him with 100 lashings. Why did the king react in such a manner?
AnswerThe king said that the man must have struggled by using his mental skills as well as physical for so long, probably years, in order to do what he did then. Therefore, he was rewarded with 100 gold coins. But, the thing on which he used all of his brains, time, and physical power, was simply meaningless. If he had struggled so much in some really good thing, he probably would have been able to gain a lot of success. Thus, he was punished for wasting himself on such a meaningless thing.
