Alphabet SoupThese brain teasers rely on your ability to recognize groups of common attributes. For each of these puzzles you'll need to figure out why the words or letters are grouped as they are. Sometimes you will be asked to pick the odd-one-out or to place a new word into the correct group.
Below are three groups. Sorted into each are the 26 letters of the English alphabet. However, one letter in each group has been misplaced. Your task is to discover the misplaced letter in each group and then determine in which of the other two groups it would belong.
Group 1: A, E, I, O, P, Q, R, T, U, Y
Group 2: B, D, F, G, H, J, K, L, S
Group 3: C, M, N, V, W, X, Z
AnswerGroup 1: A is misplaced. It belongs in Group 2.
Group 2: B is misplaced. It belongs in Group 3.
Group 3: W is misplaced. It belongs in Group 1.
Why? The letters are arranged according to the line they reside in on the keyboard. All the letters in Group 1 are in the top line, Group 2 in the middle, and Group 3 in the bottom.
