Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
I'm in the concrete and abstract
Possessing power to distract
I may gradually fade with age
Or emerge in a future stage
I can be found in someone's eye
Or hanging framed for you to spy
I'm a gift to please the senses
Pity who with me dispenses
What am I?
Possessing power to distract
I may gradually fade with age
Or emerge in a future stage
I can be found in someone's eye
Or hanging framed for you to spy
I'm a gift to please the senses
Pity who with me dispenses
What am I?
Answer
beautylines 1-2: Beauty may be found in both the tangible and intangible. It has the "power to distract".
lines 3-4: Beauty "may gradually fade" over time. However, in some cases, for example the adult stage of a butterfly, what many would consider to be the most beautiful stage is not the creature's original form.
lines 5-6: Line 5 is a reference to the proverb "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Beauty can also be found in a "framed" work of art (e.g. painting or picture) "hanging" on a wall for your appreciation.
lines 7-8: Whoever does not recognize or does not avail himself or herself of the beauty surrounding them does himself or herself a disservice, and one may "pity" or feel sorry for them.
