Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
Eight letter words I am asking thee,
Common 3rd, 4th, and 5th, these three.
They all have tea, but they don't eat pea.
Four vowels each, an "a" an absentee.
The first is a mistake, the second a tree,
the third is a pest that stings like a bee.
What are the three words?
HintDon't put words in my mouth.

Answer
Misquote (a mistake)
Mesquite (a tree)
Mosquito (a pest)
All have "squ" as the as the 3rd, 4th, and 5th letters. All have a "T" in them, none have a "P". None of them contains an "A".

| I would understand how he would count three vowels instead of four. Some people would not count U as one when it follows Q. Just depends on culture. Any how, I like this one. |

| thanks. If U when after Q is not a vowel, what is it? Will QU be counted as one letter? thanks for the info. |
