Duffus Mcclutski loves his tea plain and hot. Every day he drank several cups which caused a rather large mess on his floor. You see Duffus didn't have the steadiest hands and he used his stove to boil the water for his tea; not wanting to buy a kettle. He also refused to have anything less than a full cup of tea (though after spilling it on the way he rarely had a full cup). You see he drank his tea out on his porch which was a good 100 ft walk through most of the house, which at the best of times was so cluttered that you could have lost a dozen small children (but that's another teaser), a large dog, a herd of sheep...well you get the picture, it was a mess.

Despite the clutter Duffus didn't like tea stains on the floor so he changed "one" thing about the preparation of his tea to make sure he would never have to clean up the floor again. He didn't use a different cup or get an electric kettle so he could boil the water on the porch or even half fill the cup. He did almost everything the same.

So what was the one thing he changed so that he wouldn't spill his tea?

I thought he carried the kettle with the boiling water, the cup, and the tea bag with him to the porch, and then mixed it all. But your answer is great too. OD-1, keep them coming!

I know its out there but I thought he could have frozen tea into ice cubes, carry them out to the porch, and let them melt into iced tea. But that's just my imagination. Good teaser, though.

Stupid me! I thought of getting a pair of oven mitts so the cup wouldn't be so prone to burning his hands.

Well, the best cup of tea is made with bubbling, boiling water. If he waits till he is outside the water is no longer boiling and the quality of his cup of tea is not as good.

Moved the saucer from the bottom of the tea cup to the top (like a lid).

I thought he put the tea in a thermos bottle and poured it on the porch...

(oh, and btw, green tea is best made with water that's not quite boiling. so if he drank green tea the cooler water wouldn't affect the quality at all )
