One half is a small positive number. So is one over one thousand. Fractions are number too and you didn't specify whole integers in the question.

I like this riddle. Astounding, that we must go so far, to get the first number with an 'A'. It is boring, we always have to speak of integers. Btw: I think no one is able to name the nearest number to zero with an 'A' in it.

hmm...i thought of things like a dozen or a hundred. wouldn't one of these be another answer?

In the set if integers, only ... -2, -1, 0, 1, 2... are included. Fractions are real #s, NOT integers. So the complaints are erroneous.

Great teaser, btw!
