1000 Word Essay
Trick
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.Trick
A boy was in detention from talking too much when the teacher was talking. The detention teacher said, "You have to produce a 1000 word essay in 30 seconds...GO!!"
The boy actually did it. How?
Note: he did not just write "A 1000 word essay" on his paper. You'll have to be a little more clever than that.

That's the first one that had me stumped, good job!
I was gonna say he already had one...

Witty. Caught me off guard.
I thought it was an already made essay from a book or something to that nature and just handed it to the teacher.

Somewhat confused me at first.....God one though!!
is it ok to have extra 200 words
U must have wrote 1000 word essay
lol nice one
i was going with the "picture is worth a thousand words" answer, until i couldnt work out how you got rid of the 200 words from 1000 to get to 800. after that i decided that since the teacher said "produce" rather than "write" the essay, he just found an 800 word essay somewhere and handed it to her
i said he just wrote "a" 800 times
very clever! kid was talkative and smart
Nather solution is...
The teacher told him to PRODUCda essay....not necessarily WRITE it...the boy musta hav handed nee essay frm da book inside 30 sec...
hows dat?..
"...Elementary my dear Watson!!...."

Yeah, go ahead and try that one...you'll find yourself face to face with the principal.
It says 1000 words not 800 doesnt it?
I thought he was just going to take one out that he already had
ha! sounds like somethng i would do... lol keep em comin'!
Since it said "produce" and not "write" i assumed he got someone else's paper and produced that. I like my answer better!
Good one! I like that! I thought it was very clever. Thanks!

Haha! That was a goo one! Good job!
I heard this one years ago, read it in a teaser book or something; it stumped me the first time.
Clever teaser!
I thought he went with a rebus:
30 a-1000-word-essay seconds.
30 a-1000-word-essay seconds.
I agree with those that say he "produced" the essay intead of "wrote" the essay.
I figured he was probably in trouble a lot and had another essay on hand that he gave the teacher.

I like jaycr's answer! But I did get the answer 'drew a picture' immediately--easy-peasy but very good.
That was an awesome teaser. I didn't know the saying, but I know I've heard it before. Maybe I was researching a famous painter or something. I forgot, but I didn't realize how easy it was until I checked the answer.
but... while a picture may be worth a thousand words, that doesn't make it an essay...
I thought that since it said produced, not write, that he would just take out an essay that he already had...
Thought that the boy was really good at writing and storytelling. Great!
WHY NOT TRY THOUSAND SA
I had seen this recently somewhere else so I knew the answer right away. Exactly the answer my brother would give. Doubt it I would have gotten it if I hadn't seen it before.
Nuts. I thought it had to do with the lack of a dash, so it was a "1,000" word essay (i.e. an essay of the word 1,000) or something.
D'oh! I didn't engage my idiom engine. You got me.
Does: "Word Essay" x 10^3, constitute a one thousand word essay?
