What about Y? Yugoslavia is no longer a country, so that only leaves Yemen.

There is also the Dominican Republic, Dhekelia, Djibouti, and Dominica...I didn't know that off the top of my head, I had to look it up!

I knew Qatar was the only country with a Q at start, but not Oman.

A good teaser. I learned a lot from the comments and then wanted to look up some things. I discovered that there are no recognized countries that begin with the letter W either! One is hoping, negotiating and fighting (literally) for its freedom but success does not appear imminent.

How different the world looks geographically from my youth, but countries are still fighting all over the world, just different places, sometimes just different names.
