There is a barrel with no lid and some wine in it. "This barrel of wine is more than half full," said Curly. Moe says, "No it's not. It's less than half full."

Without any measuring implements and without removing any wine from the barrel, how can they easily determine who is correct?

Solution: Tilt the barrel until the wine barely touches the lip of the barrel. If the bottom of the barrel is visible then it is less than half full. If the barrel bottom is still covered by the wine, then it is more than half full.

The most interesting aspect of this puzzle is the idea that Curly and Moe might actually be capable of tipping a barrel of wine over until it barely touches the lip. In fact, the question was how can they easily determine who is correct? This would not be easy for these two. Better that Moe dunk curly's head into the barrel so that he could evaluate it from the inside.

How about the fact that Curly is right every time .I am always right!!!!!

this is assuming that the barrel is a perfect cylinder.

I agree with Zazzar. There would be way too much slapping and eye poking for this to happen. Nyuk!Nyuk! Woowoowoot! Oh, and where are Larry and Schemp? Seriously, though, clever idea for the solution.
