This one is really good and makes you think.
no, it makes you wonder how easy these teasers are getting.
this is incorrect as the person is actually himself
The given answer is correct but I have heard this question on a radio quizz where they tried to argue for the looking in a mirror type answer. Doesn't work!
I believe both answers don't work.
"That Man's father"
That would be the dad right if the answer is a self-portrait or himself?
"Was my father's son"
Dad was my dad's son??????!!!!!!!

ok, give the man a name...Dave.
Dave is looking at a picure and says that he has no brothers or sisters.
Then adds that the man in the picture is "my" (Dave) fathers
son.
That would mean that he IS looking at a picture of himself.
Right?

That doesn't make sense. The answer is that it is the man's son. But it says that "that man`s father was my father`s son." So it's saying that that man's(the son) father(the man) is the man's father's son, which would mean that the man is saying that the son's grandfather is his father.
Ok...let's name the man "Dave" as before. If the picture is of Dave's son....then...
Dave (who is the man's father) is his (Dave's) father's son.
It works. Makes my head hurt, but it works.

You gotta have the attention span to do that. I don't have it. lol

i still dont get it
I 1st heard this 1 from a math sheet called "Banneker's Collection of Riddles".
my head hurts
After reading the answer and looking back at the teaser, it all seems to make sense.
I didn't get it, but it was fun to try.

He's talking about himself.
Easy but cute. Kinda like an optical illusion.
If that man't father is HIS father's son, and he has no siblings, it has to be him
Aug 25, 2006
the solution is simple: who is "my father's son" if the man saying that has no siblings? OBVIOUSLY, "that man's father" is ME. therefore the statement becomes "that man's father is ME", ergo he is looking at a picture of his SON, the correct answer. !!!
How is it that SPUTNIK2 has commented on like every teaser on this website? I will paste this message every time I see their comment. Why? Because I feel like it. Okay? Okay.
Yes, it is son, not the man himself. All you people who can't figure that out are just stupid.
not fair!!!!!! i like that one it made me smiley mad like i was mad but not really cuz i was happy.......does that make any sense?well i like it and thats all that's matters.
I still don't get it.
Yay! I got that one! Great teaser! I think you should've given the man a name. =).
An oldie but a goodie!
That was very easy!

If that man't father is HIS father's son, and he has no siblings, it has to be him
-------------------------------------------
No siblings, so his father only has the man looking at the picture. The man in the picture is the father of HIS fathers son, so his father is his dad, so his dads only son is the man, so his son is in the picture..... its hard to explain

This is one of the great classic riddles. The problem statement is simple, but for whatever reason the logic is terribly difficult for people to grasp. It is confounding. It is easy to remember and recite verbally making it even better. It is one of the top ten all time riddles.
Another teaser infringing a copyright. This is a duplicate of a copyrighted product called Mindtrap. Numerous other teasers here are copied from that product.
