Excellent teaser, Doc!

Hep Hep Hep Hooray
excellent teaser, thanks
this is cool! but whats winnow?
winnow means to seperate chaff from grain, like wheat, or more plainly, to remove the undesirable portion of something. Glad you liked it.
very clever. fun too.
The perfect way to kick my brain into operation on a friday morning! But who or what is a lowboy???? Can't find it in the dictionary...
I like this 1

Isn't a lowboy a peice of furniture? This was a fun way to start the day. Not to taxing on the whats's left of my brain at the end of the work week
you can mix up lowboy and barfly and get flyboy and barlow, which also six letter words. That's how I came up with the "incorrect" answer.
That was fun!
Although I got the answer...I had no idea what "lowboy" was

This is one of the best puzzles I've ever seen on this site. It's very fun and difficult. I trapped myself by making CARBOY, which left box low behind. Had to check the answer out unfortunately.
Good GOOOD I want more!

a fun way to start the day.
That's a nice teaser.
I thought that was a good brain teaser, however, is "lowboy" really a word?
Great teaser! I almost got them all right! Like Kinergy, I trapped myself by making an incorrect match, "lowpan." Someone help me out; is that a word?
markmonnin, Is barlow is a word?
lowboy: A low or short chest or table with drawers, often on short legs
I found this using Google, entering define:lowboy. This is the best dictionary ever.
So then I tried define:barlow, and sure enough: An optical element put before the eyepiece to increases the magnifying power of the eyepiece. Common barlows multiply the focal length of the primary, resulting in 2 or 3 times more power with the same eyepiece.

was doing good and then got confused when one of my options would have been lowboy. Didn't think that was a word. Good puzzle though, i love word games.
Okay, that was good.

instead of lowboy and barfly,
would two other acceptable words be:
flyboy
barlow
would two other acceptable words be:
flyboy
barlow
Loved the teaser and really loved the comments. I was stuck with win now and lowboy too. Also confused myself when I tried to make boxboy, another name for a grocery store bagger. Thanks for this clever teaser. I love word puzzles
pretty easy but fun
The first one I saw right off the bat was boxboy. I'm surprised only one other person shared my find. Must be a regional thing. I'm on the west coast. Glad to learn new words too!!!
Some of the words didn't make sense....... Oh well.... I didn't get it............
Nice job.
Having a telescope, I had heard of Barlow, so I went with that and Flyboy.

This is really cute, I am going to try it on 7th graders on Monday really cute!
I got them all but barfly and lowboy, didn't know how to combine those 4 into words I knew.
This was the most fun I've had in a teaser, GREAT!!!!!

Another great teaser! This time, I got all ten right!
a barlow is also a type of jackknife
Oh yeah...I liked this!! It was fun!! Nice job!
THE DEGREE OF DIFFICULTY RATING ON THIS TEASER IS "OVER" RATED.
Had to get out the quail and parchment for a couple of these. A fine teaser, thanks for the effort.
Hehehehehehehehehehehe

I didn't get them all, but had fun trying. Good on you.
You must really have gotten someone, he's still all mouth and still non productive at 318. Where are the teasers, Mr. genius?

Nice job. Got them all except winnow. Figured it out when I read the comments.
Easy but fun. Good teaser.
WHATS A WINNNOW??? BUT GREAT JOB.
That was fun and tricky!
It was easy, but lots of fun. It doesn't have to be hard to be fun.
Easy but GREAT fun!! I enjoyed this the most of all the puzzles since I recently started adding to your comments.
I knew lowboy and winnow; now I've learned barlow!! Bet it'll come in handy some day in one of the many word puzzles I live on!!
Thank you, fishmed; more, more, more!

A quick and easy teaser, to get your mind into action. It is easy! But, to get your mind into action, what the he--!!
Got Barfly and Lowboy by elimination. Rest were quite easy but interesting. Thanks!
Enjoyed it, though difficulty rating is higher than it really is. Was left w/Lowboy at the end, which while its a word seems awfully obscure.
Boxboy is an old term that was used @ grocery stores. I think the gender friendly term is now bagger or sacker.
Oh sorry fishmed I didn't thank you for this one. I enjoyed it, but I love word scrambles.
Ok, I admit... I ALSO got "flyboy" and "Barlow." Although, according to the answers, these weren't correct, they could still be used... so even though I got most of them right, but missed these two, I still think I got them ALL right!! And the reason I got Barlow, is because I also have a Barlow knife handed down to me from my grandfather. And I DO know what a "Flyboy" is!!!
And, in my opinion... again!... Imurray needs to stop being so doggone NEGATIVE!! I mean, hey, if you don't like these teasers, then stay away!!

My mom used to always call the tall dresser in their bedroom a highboy and the one with the mirror a lowboy, so I didn't have any trouble with that word. My dad was an accountant at a furniture manufactuing company, so I guess maybe that's why it was a common word in our house. I like these teasers. It took some real thinking to come up with so many words that equaled exactly three and then six letter. Good job, fishmed.
One of the best I have seen Very creative and fun Thank you I will save this one for sure
this took too long i dont have that much time people
Good one! Not a slam dunk but very doable with a little effort. Thanks Fishmed
New to the site. Great fun, but what's up with Imurray? Thanks fishmed!
Like this one, thx fishmed... Got boxcar or boxboy leaving nothing for lowboy and although I know what winnow is I did`nt get it lol
ooh sexy
fishmed this was great. So much fun. More please.
i knew highboy and lowboy, my dad's dresser and my mom's dresser just like someone else noted. I had one false start because I used wintry as a word and then had to think again, but i got it. I was going to send it to a homeschooling mother I know but I don't think she'll leave dimwit or barfly in, not for the age kids she has!
fun and nice (unlike some posters!)

didn't get pantry, duh really enjoyed this one, let's have more
I was thinking barboy??? but, I did get some of the words. I think this was a good one! Thanks
Cool teaser.
I got stuck in WINTRY gloom, and thus couldn't find the PANTRY... and there seems to be no such thing as "PANNOW" so I decided to give up.
I also went with barlow and flyboy. Yay for astronomy and barlow lenses!

whats a winnow?
Winnow means to separate, such as wheat from chaff, by use of blowing air, as wheat is heavy, while the rest is light and just blows away.
I too came up with flyboy and barlow, since I own a telescope and frequently use barlow lenses.
Fun quiz!
Fun quiz!
Another one for the kiddies. Way too EZ.
Fun and easy. The first one I got was barfly, and I thought I might be wrong, but it worked out right. Thanks for a good one.
I didn't mention about it being another old repeat, because I don't want to get shannmo's dandruff flared up.
ooohhhhhh!!!! I am so hurt by that!!!! Oh why do you have to slam me soooooo much!!! ooooHHHh waaaahhhh1 oh it hurts it hurts OOOHHHHHH!!!!!!

I got Barlow and Flyboy, but for very different reasons. I had heard the band Barlow Girl. Now I have an idea of what a Barlow actually is. thanks for the quiz!
no offense, but THAT WAS SO CONFUSING! ! ! ! ! i forgot that each word could be the first OR last letter. ooooooops!
Here2, my family actually know the girls from Barlow Girl. Their family and ours homeschool and we were in the same Christian theater group. Their father taught classes, as did my wife. So both taught both our kids and the Barlow ladies at a tender age.
I got them all but a couple because I had boxboy instesd of lowboy. You know, boxboy from the grocery store. It was a fun to do teaser. Thanks for that.
I loved that one! That type of puzzle is right up my alley. Thanks for a good one!
Very very easy,but interesting.
I agree with cutebug, very easy but lots of fun. I didn't even think of boxboy as some others did, I got lowboy straight away as I own two highboys so knew straightway what a lowboy was.
I printed out the 3-letter words and crossed them off as I used them. I wrote down the new words as I matched them. I had no trouble coming up with the correct new words, but because of the process I went through, I gave it a medium difficulty. All in all, a very enjoyable puzzle which included some fun words (barfly, dimwit) and maybe old fashioned words (lowboy). Thanks for submitting!
Carboy and wintry for misdirection.
I got them but I didn't know was a piece of furniture, I thought it was some kind of trailer. Learn something every day!!
Lowboy (trailer or furniture)
pretty good!!
loved it- I was able to do this without writing it down, which is important when I'm feeling lazy ;-)
Lovely teaser! Not sure if this one has been mentioned yet, but what about "wintry"?
Fun, easy and entertaining teaser; I got all ten of the six letter words very quickly but still enjoyed working on this teaser.
