Not So Great Inventions #4
A young computer programmer who had run out of post-it notes (those small square yellow sticky pieces of paper) came up with this almost great invention. He placed self-adhesive magnetic tape around his computer monitor so that he could stick notes and whatever he liked to his computer monitor using fridge magnets. Hey, it worked great on the fridge; why not? It worked great, just as he planned, but there was one problem that ultimately led to him remove his invention and run out to get more sticky notes.
But what was the problem if it worked so well?

Answer
Computer monitors (at least CRT ones) can be affected by magnetic fields, causing the colors and images on the screen to become distorted. At first this was not very noticeable but as he added magnets this became more evident and ultimately caused him to remove the magnets. It's never a good idea to place magnets near any computer or electronic components.Hide Answer Show Answer

My dad told me awhile back that it was bad for your computer.
never place a floppy disk near your cell phone!! good job though! p.s. will magnets stick to your computer?
That was easy. But the computer person should've known. Once, somebody put a magnet on the screen, and that part turned black, it was really cool...
I knew that!
