Moving Backward
Trivia brain teasers have some element of trivia in them, but they are not just pure trivia questions.
What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?
Answer
Niagara Falls - The rim is worn down about 1 foot each year because of the hundreds of thousands of gallons of water that move over it every minute

| Next time you write a teaser involving the word "backward(s)", please be more specific as to what you mean by it. |

| Um, doggy, how many landmarks actually move? That's the beauty of this teaser. And Axton, why are almost all of your comments mean or negative? I have read quite a few teasers here and elsewhere, and this is a good teaser! |

| I guess I thought 'backwards' meant that it was actually moving back, sort of like how the leaning tower leans a bit more, or the Eiffel Tower... (does something, but i can't remember what). I guess I didn't think eroding was the same as moving backwards. It isn't really moving, I guess... I dunno. I liked the teaser, anyway. |

| Who ever thinks that the Niagra Falls isn't that big of a deal, should know that it is one of the 7 (?) natural wonders of the world. I don't know of any "wonders" in Australia. And no one said that it's the prettiest. Just the biggest. I'm sure that there are prettier ones in Aus. Can't we all just get along!!! |

| I was thinking of the Statue of Liberty, since I'm guessing it's facing inland (east), or any other landmark that faces east. Since the earth rotates westward, they would be moving backwards constantly. |

| Except for the numerous tidewater glaciers, the glaciers of both North and South America (and yes globally) are retreating backwards as well. And the Hollywood sign and the rest of California is backing away from the mainland and moving Northward. |

| You stumped me. I had no idea Niagara Falls was so enormous. I,too, thought of The Statue of Liberty.
A good and informational teaser. |

| This teaser doesn't make sense. Eroding isn't moving, and the Falls themselves aren't eroding anyway, the ground under them is.
Also, @kcelf, Niagara Falls is not one of the 7 wonders of anything. I think you're thinking of the Grand Canyon.

| I live near The Falls, too! Hey, the way it keeps moving back, someday maybe I won't have to go too far! Probably not in my lifetime though. I took my first trip there when I was five. It would be interesting to see the difference of where it was then compared to now. |

| Great quiz.... I first thought of a glacier, and right on the heels of that thought came Niagara Falls. I feel sad that so many people thought this wasn't a good teaser, I thought it was great! |

| Or are they moving FORWARD, toward the Canadian side? It's all about perspective ;)
I was thinking something along the lines of the hawaiian islands and their slow northwest movement with the Pacific plate over volcanic hotspots. |

| I am surprise this Teaser was Not Corrected. It is impossible for the Fall to Move in opposite direction of itself. Then it would not be a Fall. Niagara Fall is a natural Gorge it is not a Landmark. Land marks are man made. I love Teasers but this is off point in a number of ways. It Not True. It cannot be true... |

| I agree totally with Leftclick, it makes no sense at all. All facts are wrong. I still love the way you make teasers. |
