Keyboard Mania
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
Can you name at least 3 words of ten or more letters that can be typed entirely using only the top letter row of a standard typewriter keyboard ?
HintThere's one in the puzzle statement itself.

Answer
TYPEWRITER
PEPPERROOT
PEPPERWORT
PERPETUITY
PEWTERWORT
PIROUETTER
PREREQUIRE
PRETORTURE
PROPRIETOR
REPERTOIRE
REPETITORY
TETTERWORT.
If hyphens are allowed, then TEETER-TOTTER (12 letters) is possible, as is TEETER-TOTTERER (14 letters), although the latter is not found in dictionaries. Another possible 12-letter word, POWERTRIPPER, is also not in any major dictionary.

| If "PIROUETTER" is in your verbal REPERTOIRE then you are the PROPRIETOR of a busy TYPEWRITER!

| Well, making your day complete, lmurray, is, afterall, the MOST important thing!
Now, onto the teaser... I also got "typewriter" without the hint, yayayay!!! I didn't get any others. I happen to be a "pirouetter" myself, but I've always considered those French words, although I suppose they're technically English now that they are used by English-speakers for Ballet. I never would have gotten the others either, without looking them up, well... maybe a couple of them. But, that's OK, just means it wasn't easy! Everyone complains when teasers are EASY, but when its very hard, somehow that's not "right". LOL! Thanks for the brain workout, it will be sore tomorrow.

| Yikes, even if I did get this there's only four of those words that I even know. Interesting, but too hard. |

| I have to admit that I felt quite a few of the words in the answer were a bit cheap. There are probably lots of words that you could come up with by simply adding "er" to the end of the word as the author has here. |

I have no idea what those are (I assume herbs and ballet) but I am certain that I did not stand a chance on this teaser! Very tough!

| First day on this site. I found a couple of admittedly questionable words that were not on the list. Is it bad form to post them? Anyway, I don't think they're any worse than "pretorture." What is that, Lindy England's version of foreplay? |
