On a certain game show, five families were asked to match famous names to faces they were shown, and each correct guess got one point. The families made the following guesses (in order):

The Addams' guessed Otto, Roebling, Steinmetz, Tesla, and Westinghouse.

The Bunkers guessed Tesla, Westinghouse, Otto, Steinmetz, and Roebling.

The Cunninghams guessed Roebling, Tesla, Steinmetz, Westinghouse, and Otto.

The Flintstones guessed Tesla, Roebling, Otto, Steinmetz, and Westinghouse.

The Jetsons guessed Tesla, Westinghouse, Steinmetz, Otto, and Roebling.

No two families got the same number of points. Which family walked home with the grand prize?

There is no way for a family to get only four points, since if they matched four correctly, the last one *has* to be correct as well. The only possible point totals, therefore, are 0, 1, 2, 3, and 5. That's five totals and five families...

Really easy... but, I'm glad it wasn't some stupid trick, and actually followed a logical pattern lol. Not bad

I love puzzles but I didn't get this one at all

Can someone please explain it to me? Thank you in advance!

If one family had to get all 5 right (no family could get just 4 or else the last had to be right too), then you could pick one and compare to others. If there are duplicates, as the maker said, then the family you picked to have 5 right didn't get 5 right. Continue this until you get one family with 0 points, one with 1, one with 2, one with 3, and one with 5. Just like a guess-and-check math problem.

cool - i liked it. it was kind of brainless since you just had to assume one family got them all right and then compare all the answers and add up the points, but it was still enjoyable to think about for a minute or two. cheers

I loved this one, and it was relatively easy for me, just had to try each family til I hit the right one. Fun. More, please.

Even without the hint, the point totals were obvious. Took about a minute to work through which family won the prize but as stated by another poster, it was nice that the answer was logical and followed a intelligent course instead of working through it to find it was a trick.

I loved the jokes in the answer. Very cool!

I am with gaylewolf on this one. Not my thing at all, but it makes me feel good to know some of you liked it and got it. I like smart people.
