I tried to work it out mathematically, and was leaning toward 1 being the answer using a convoluted logarithmic function. I finally resorted to searching OEIS for the sequence 3, 9, 27, 2, 0 and came up with http://www.research.att.com/~njas/sequences/ A114181 which is [log10(n)] of http://www.research.att.com/~njas/sequences/ A029722, which is your sequence.  |
