To many of them with the same way of solving!!! Not to mention so easy, i did it in a minute without any grid or anything!!! Boring and easy!
Here are my guesses before looking at the actual answers:

Now I'm going to see if I am right.

Well my dear animal loving friends. While this teaser was relatively simple, the true difficulty arose when those of us solved the problem and figured that some of these animals should have fared better during the race. However, the results are not terribly inaccurate (I love double negatives) given the length of the race and the stature of our contestants. First, let's start with our loser, the horse. The horse can maintain speeds approaching 45mph. If you use the fastest type of horse and the fastest type of Dog, not only will their speeds be similar but they will rank 1st and 2nd on overall top speed. However, dogs achieve their top speed faster than horses do. Horses actually take the longest time (compared to the other 4 animals) to reach their top speed. Given that they only have 100 meters to go, horses don't have enough time to catch the other animals that start so much faster. Think about this, it takes the fastest man in the world, on any given day, less than 10 seconds to go 100 meters. The fastest men can reach speeds between 22-25 mph which is far slower than all of our contestants. So we are looking at a race that took no longer than 8 seconds.
The fastest starters were the mouse, cat, and monkey. Because of their light bodies and slender lims they achieve their top speed in less than 3 seconds. But their problem is that they can't maintain that speed - which is generally in the 30s for each one of these creatures - for longer than 10 or 15 seconds. Your fastest dog is going to reach its high speed in time to pass the quick starters with a little room to spare. So what happened in this race is that after the monkey, cat, and mouse maxed out their speed, there tended to be a gradual decline in their progress. What accounts for the middle order of the race relates to which animal can maintain their top speed the longest. The fastest monkeys (i'm not talking baboons here) can maintain their speed a little longer than the (domestic) cats that ran alongside them in this race. And we can safely assume that the same goes for the cat and mouse.
in short, the dog won the 100m not only b/c it is faster but b/c it can reach its top speed in time to catch the middle of the pack. The horse however, would not be able to catch the dog until about 120/130m b/c it won't reach its top speed for nearly 8 seconds. combine that with a slow start and the horse won't even catch the mouse until the 105m, 5m too late for 4th place.
So there you have it, a far longer response than needed to answer a short question that was asked in jest.
I love rhetoric!
