Apr 19, 2002
| What would you need to MAKE a pin drop.
SOmeone else could be bowling and you hear it |
CURLY
May 07, 2002
| The answer could also be a VERY BIG PIN!! |
holes418
Apr 13, 2003

| your ears...
and for a pin to drop...
otherwise you have nothing to hear with, and nothing to hear... |
irishthistle
Jul 01, 2005
| Very clever! You got me, I thought the answer was your ears. |

Jul 03, 2005
| OhMyGoodness! I saw the answer and literally sat there for a full minute saying "I dont get it"
then it dawned on me and at 10 minutes to 2am... I yelled "OH!" and woke my parents up....
great job! The answer could also be: "really good hearing" as well as the previously mentioned "a big pin" and "your ears"
but I do like the original answer the best.... clever! |
teri12265
Jul 03, 2005
| I was thinking that 'you need to be 20 yards over'.
I wasn't thinking bowling.
But the answer could also be 'you need to be in a bowling alley'
Thanks for the teaser!

Araldite
Jul 03, 2005
| I thought you had to be near where it landed, assuming it dropped from over 20 yards above your head. |

Jul 03, 2005
| I guess soccer players are naturally slower at getting teasers, or at least this one, cuz I did the same thing you did soccer chick! I was just sitting there thinking, WHAT???? would you like, tie the pin to the bowling ball or something?? Then I realized, ohhhhhh Duh!!!! Great teaser!!! |
tamjp
Jul 03, 2005

Jul 03, 2005
| clever! |
pleroux
Jul 04, 2005
| Very clever! I thought maybe you needed to have a lot of balloons under there the pin was being dropped - that way, you'd hear the balloons pop when the pin was dropped. |
sambean
Jul 04, 2005
| i thouhgt that because you said 'drop from 20 yards' not 'drop from 20 yards away' that you met it dropped from a height of 20 yards. i thought the answer would be 'a ladder' |
timber_wolf_789
Jul 05, 2005
| This is one of those teasers that I couldn't answer, but as soon as I saw the answer, I was like 'I should of guessed that!"
Great teaser!!! |

skiiergurl93
Jul 05, 2005

| Very Clever!!! |
OldChinaHand
Aug 05, 2006
| I also went with 'a very big pin', bowling was the last thing to come to mind.
Grand little teaser. An, ahh I should have known that, catcher. Asprin, anyone? |
Badger
Aug 05, 2006
| I'm in the big pinhead club this morning! I also thought of the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago, where their Whisper Gallery uses parabolic mirrors to focus sound across a large room (no electronics). You can hear a whisper (or a pin drop) from about 50 meters! So my second (and very nerdy) answer is a parabolic mirror. Not nearly as funny as the bowling ball! Fun teaser! |
bradon182001
Aug 05, 2006
| I'm afraid I too thought of a very heavy pin, and bowing pins are heavy, but I never thought of bowling pin, so I guess I didnt get it. Good job. |

enjaytee
Aug 05, 2006
| I thought it was from 20 yards up in the air too but I also thought it was the surface it dropped on......something that would enhance the sound. |
jabdr
Aug 05, 2006
| My first thought was 'bowling pin'. I'm going to tell myself that my answer is close enough to be correct. (bowling...horseshoes..)
Nice one. |

Aug 05, 2006
| I have heard this one before, and even the first time I heard it I didn't like it. It is an okay teaser, though. Many people liked it, so I'm glad it got accepted. |
Pizzazz2u
Aug 05, 2006
| This one is an old one, but it is a terrifically good one! It makes you think quickly, although I used to bowl in 3 leagues a week. |
shawneeo
Aug 05, 2006
| Welllllllllllll...
That's a funny answer, Ha Ha. !.
But, I think there are too many possible answers for it to work right, or, for it to be Fan-Friggerator-
Tastic! The one I myself thought of was that the pin would be dropped from overhead, but my fave answer is that you would need hearing, lol!
Still, good going! Thanks! |
tintiniscool
Aug 05, 2006

This is such a cool teasers. I don't really agree that people think that there came be so many more answers, because this one makes perfect sense! |

| Oh, that is so funny!
Of course, I was thinking along the lines of a bucket of water for the pin to drop into. Bowling never entered my mind. Great trick tease! |

Aug 07, 2006
| First thought, 20 yards, ok, 60' divide by 3.14, as in a circle, pin would be dropped right next to your ear, guess too logical thinking? |

crazy10man
Aug 05, 2009
| You need ears and a pin. What you you don't need is the bowling ball at all -- you just need the bowling pin to fall loudly enough to hear. The ball is irrelevant. |
leroyleroy
Aug 05, 2009
| WELL I SURE DIDNT GET THIS |
auntiesis
Aug 05, 2009
| Never thought of bowling pins. I had 5 other answers, but they were all lame.
Great teaser, very funny. |

Aug 05, 2009
| I said the Mormon Tabernacle, because you can famously hear a small pin drop to the floor there from a distance, as they demonstrate during tours (or at least used to do). |

Aug 05, 2012
| I just guessed that the pin was being dropped from 20 yards in the air, not dropped 20 yards away from me. |
eamon
Aug 05, 2012
| Same here, drop a common pin from a height of 20 yds onto a brass cymbal or something tinny and you'd hear it easily. A crystal bowl might work as well. The official answer also relied on a word trick so these are just as legitimate. |
