A Ride on the Subway
A woman visiting a big city is getting ready to board the subway. She is unfamiliar with the city and the subway system, but decides to jump on and go for a ride anyway. She takes the subway for a 15-minute ride to the next stop. As she goes to get off, the subway operator asks her if she needs directions. The woman replies, "No, I know exactly where I am." How?
Answer
It is a circular track with only one stop.

| What is the point of a circular track with only one stop? Who would pay to go on this train? |

| If you hadn't used the term subway it would make more sense. A tourist train might go around in a circle for people to view the scenery or a ride at a carnival, but "subway"? |

| I would think it more logical that she heard the stop announced over a speaker system, or she recognised the stop as the one where she got on.
Cooler still, would be that she had left her bag behind and saw it by the platform out the window |

| I thought she rode to the final stop on the line, so she would know where she was (e.g. at the airport, or at the terminal, etc.)
It doesn't make sense to have a circular, one stop subway.

| OK... uh... or not. These teasers are supposed to make sense in real life, and this one doesn't. A circular subway with one stop would never be built in the first place. Sorry. |

| This is silly, who would have got that correct. Why would you board a subway that has only one stop??Surprised this one got accepted. |

| This makes absolutely no sense. Why would there be a subway with a circular track and only one stop.
If at first you don't succeed, try another teaser. |

| i said that she took the subway out of the city back to her home town and then she knew where she was. . . i dont know how that makes sense
i like your answer better (even though a subway with just one stop is kind of pointless ) |

| ya, I thought that she got off at her home town, thusfore knowing exactly where she was...
I really don't think that it makes sense to have a subway that goes around in circles... |

| I think a better reply could be "She was back where she started."
You dont have to have a "one stop subway", it's pointless. |

| But she only rode one stop. If she was back where she started, then there'd only be one stop...
To continue nitpicking all of the logical and real life mistakes, why would the operator ask the woman if she needs directions if there's only one stop? |

Well, Unraveled, anyone who bothers to get on a one-stop subway is obviously lost, LOL! |

| You said she just decided to go for a ride, and since she got off at the first stop she knew all she had to do was get on the reverse train and do the same. It never said she had any destination in mind and found that explanation much more plausible than a circular track with one stop in a big city. Too off the wall an answer for me. |

| This question is ridiculous! I live in a big city, and I take the subway to work every day. First of all, unless you're on the commuter (which takes you FAR out of the city), there is no train that takes 15 minutes between stops. And to reiterate, a CIRCULAR ONE-STOP SUBWAY LINE??? please... |

| What kind of a subway is this? You pay money, spend fifteen minutes of your time to get into a crowded underground train with nothing to do, just to get off to a subway operator that offers directions from the place you started in. |
