Brain Teasers
A Man and His Seas
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
A man was put in a strange place, and got lost. The only things he could see were many seas and volcanoes. After a few hours, he found himself with other people, going home. Where was he, and why?
Answer
The man was an astronaut on the moon. The seas related to maria, the dark parts on the moon. The biggest parts of maria are know as seas (the Sea of Serenity, the Sea of Tranquility, and a few others). Photographs have proven that there are volcanoes on the moon. He was exploring the moon, and then he went back to the shuttle with the other astronauts, and went back to Earth (home).Hide Answer Show Answer

uh, couldn't he also be in hawaii?
sure, y not...
do u even kno the point in "situation" teasers? most have more than one answer
I don't get it
I thought he was a caveman. But then, my brain's not working this morning. Your answer does make sense.
I thought he was in a Las Vegas Casino with volcanoes and fountains and got lost among all the games and then climbed aboard the tour bus with all the other members of his group to go home.
I understand your answer.. But I was thinking Hawaii too.
lol ya those r all good answers, as for u ice...the moon is that one big hunk of stuff in orbit around the earth (i pray to god u knew that) the "seas" are like the sea of tranquility, the sea of serinity, and a few others (u should have heard of those before) the "seas" are actually dark, flat parts on the moon, called "maria". Volcanoes are the big mountains that spew out fire, and there are some on the moon. Astronauts go to the moon (or other places in the universe) to explore. They normally go in groups, and he got lost away from the group. If u still do not get it i feel sorry for u. And for every1 else, if u can explain it more, do so.
Yeah I thought he was taking a cruise in Hawaii 2 lol!!!
dare to be different - hawaii here too
yes, Hawaii, the moon, and others could all work. Good job on thinking hawaii
I thought it was in a museum or something...
I thought it was Hawaii too. I still don't really get the moon thing.
What is so confusing about the answer, just ask me any questions you have.
i thought Hawaii too. I never would have thought of the moon. Too much science for me . It was still fun! Hawaii sounds like fun. The relaxing, the beach.
Got the moon deal, but your teaser said he got lost. your answer doesn't explain how he found the shuttle.
Made me think of a tour in a museum where they might have ushed everyone out at closing time.

Good teaser. This time I knew what maria meant with respect to the moon from your other teaser!
That should be in science, shouldn't it??
no, because it could have more than one answer, so it is a situation...
Wohoo, this is the 264th best Situation, wait....is that good?
Thanks for all the swellorific comments!

Did anyone else other than froggy get it right? Not even Hawaii crossed my mind...
I had to read the answer 3 times before I understood thats what being blonde takes from you Good one Swaffy Swaff Swaff Swaffy!!! (sorry....)
I also thought Hawaii. This teaser wasnt horrible I guess.
I was thinking of Hawaii too. L L Very Fun.
Strangely enough I thought that this was one of the better situation teasers which are mostly drivel. It isn't Hawaii because it is in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and therefore you can see ONE ocean, not many seas. The answers fits cleverly but is at the same time unexpected. I must be different because I thought it was obvious. This is I think what situation teasers are supposed to be like, not some contrived situation with a random answer that could be replaced with almost anything. Well done!
