Acronyms
Trivia brain teasers have some element of trivia in them, but they are not just pure trivia questions.
Mnemonic devices help people to remember the order of something by using the first letter of each name in the set to make other words in a catchier phrase or another word that is easier to remember. For example: ROY G. BIV stands for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet. These are the order of colors in the rainbow, or light spectrum.
Try to figure these two out!
1. My very excellent mother just served us nine pizzas.
2. Please excuse my dear Aunt Sally.
HintUse the first letter of each word.

| My mother taught me a variation of the first one which went "my very earthly mother just showed us nine planets" (works well given what it stands for).
I learned BODMAS rather than PEMDAS (brackets, of, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction), so I had no idea what you were talking about with "parenthesis" and "exponents" (or whatever they were, i forget ) Good otherwise!! |
