Brain Teasers
Sleep Walker?
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
After a nice meal of wine and cheese Rimple Stultzkin settled down against a tree for a nap. When he awoke he was in a completely different country! How could this be?
Hint
Everyone around him seemed to be celebrating something.Answer
Rimple was a resident of Alsace-Lorraine, known for wines, beer and quiche, which was officially ceded to France at the end of World War II after it had been occupied by Germany. Lucky for Rimple that he was too old to be drafted by the German Army! The area has passed back and forth between Germany and France five times as a result of various wars since it was first ceded to France in 1648.So, Rimple fell asleep in Germany and woke up in France!

I wouldn't really say this is a brain teaser... more like a history quiz trick question...
This requires a lot of trivia...

This is tricky. It is more like a trick question on a history guiz!
it was o.k.
it was o.k.
OOOOOHhhhh great trivia too!
Hi Folks; Thanks for the comments .. the trick was thinking about a different way to travel to a different country .. the other stuff I looked up on the Internet to show it really could have happened in this situation and many others and no doubt will happen somewhere again... borders are raised and can also dissappear .. learning can be fun .. I always enjoy learning new stuff .. if you thought about any similar situation, you beat the puzzle! .. I hope the other stuff was added value..thanks for your time! (worth the price of the ticket, right?)
Good one. Thanks. And the history lesson was a plus.
I wish you were my history teacher. Class would be a blast with you
Very creative and interesting teaser. Don't think I'm going to have wine and cheese and sleep under a tree! Never know where I might wake up - through the looking glass maybe? Good teaser!
Thanks again you fellow brainy's. I think being a teacher is a high calling right up there with being a good student.. I think I missed on the name though, should have been "Rip Von Winker"
i hated this teaser so i have nithing to say

Very well thought. Interesting answer too! I would have never got it!

History isnt my best subject, and well written as well.

Clever. I started by asking questions that narrowed down the countries. When it got down to Germany and France, I figured it was related to war. One question ... France won a war?
this was hard but very clever. nice one!
anybody else think that smiley looks a little, i dont know, EVIL?!?!?
It was hilarious, witty and educational all at the same time! Great one, zonahobo!
verrry interrrrestink!
Nice one, I stink at history though. But isn't it spelled Rumplestiltskin?
Oh. I thought he was riding on a train.
My first thought was that the country had become independent e.g. slept in Northern Rhodesia and woke up in Zambia. But you cou could argue whether that's a different country. What about waking up in e.g. the Vatican City in 1929? If it's a transfer of territory there are actually a lot of possibilities. Say falling asleep in Walvis Bay which was part of South Africa and waking up in Namibia - early 1990s I think?
