Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
Garth and four other members of the Benton Remote Control Model Airplane Club took their hobby indoors and began working on long-term winter projects. Each member (each of whom holds a different executive office in the club) set up a new, uncluttered workbench in a different room of his or her home to construct a scale model of a different airplane. The modelers worked at different speeds. No two modelers spent the same amount of time on their projects. From the info provided, can you determine the model (one is a Bleriot XI) each modeler constructed, the office each modeler holds in the club, the room each one worked in and the number of weeks (6, 7, 8, 9, or 10) each modeler took to finish his or her project?
Modelers - Daniel, Garth, Gilda, Jerry, Thea
Office - alternate officer, president, secretary, treasurer, vice-president
Model - A6M2 Zero, Bleriot XI, Fokker D VII, Messerschmitt Me 109, P-51D Mustang
Room - Bedroom, Den, Family, Sunroom, workroom
Weeks - 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
1. The vice-president, who isn't the one who built a model in six weeks, isn't the one who built a model in the bedroom.
2. The secretary's model took fewer weeks to construct than did the A6M2 Zero. Neither Jerry nor Thea is the secretary; Thea constructed a model of a Fokker D VII.
3. The club's alternate officer took exactly eight weeks to complete a model.
4. Daniel took exactly one week fewer to construct his model than did the person who built a model in the den, who took exactly one week fewer to build a model than did the secretary.
5. The model that was built in the sunroom, which is not the one that was constructed by the president, didn't take ten weeks to construct.
6. The five modelers are the one who built a model in the family room, the treasurer, the one who built the P-51D Mustang, the vice-president, and the one who took seven weeks to finish a model.
7. Gilda's model took fewer weeks to finish than did the Messerschmitt Me 109.

7. Gilda's model took fewer weeks to finish than did the Messerschmitt Me 109.
Answer
Daniel, Bleriot XI, President, Bedroom, 7 wksGarth, ME 109, Secretary, Family room, 9 wks
Gilda, P-51D Mustang, Alternate officer, den, 8 wks
Jerry, A6M2 Zero, Vice-president, Workroom, 10 wks
Thea, Fokker D VII, Treasurer, Sunroom, 6 wks
The number in brackets ( ) refers to the clue number.
Secretary isn't 10 wks (2), 8 wks (3 - alternate), 6 or 7 wks (4), therefore is 9 wks. A6M2 is 10 wks (2), the one in the den is 8 wks and Daniel is 7 wks (4). 7 wks isn't vice president or treasurer (6), has to be president - only one left. Vice-president isn't 6 wks (1), therefore treasurer is - only one left. Vice-president is 10 wks [A6M2 Zero]. Family room isn't 6 wks [treasurer], 7wks or 10wks -vice president (6), therefore family room is 9 wks. Sunroom isn't 7 [president] or 10 wks (5), its 6 weeks, only one left. 10 weeks [vice-president] isn't bedroom (1), therefore 7 weeks is the bedroom. 10 weeks is the workshop - only one left. P-51D Mustang isn't secretary [family room], treasurer, vice-president, or president [7wks] from clue 6. Therefore it is the alternate officer. Fokker D VII made by Thea (2) isn't the secretary (2) or president [Daniel]; therefore it's the treasurer - only one left. Messerschmitt Me 109 is either 9 weeks or 7 weeks. If its 7 weeks, then Gilda's would be 6 weeks from clue 7. But we know Thea is 6 weeks, therefore the Me 109 has to be 9 weeks. This leaves the Bleriot XI at 7 weeks. From clue 4, Daniel is the president. Gilda has to be 8 weeks - it's the only number left below 9 weeks that we don't know who it is. Jerry isn't the secretary (2) thus he has to be the vice president - only one left. This leaves Garth as the secretary.
