Brain Teasers
Kennel Madness
7 dogs were boarding at the local Pet Lodge. Each dog was in a separate run, all in a single row. One of the employees left the cages unlocked and the dogs have all gotten out of their runs. She needs to put each of them back in the right cage, but this is all she remembers. Help her get them in the right cages, and QUICK!
Dogs: Beau, Duke, Fluffy, Lady, Princess, Rover, and Spike
1. Spike doesn't like other dogs much, so he was on one of the ends.
2. Princess was somewhere to the left of Beau.
3. Rover was in the third run from the right.
4. The only dog between Fluffy and Lady was Princess.
5. Duke was directly to the left of Lady.

Nice puzzle. Not too difficult. A good way to waste a couple of minutes.
Great! My only criticism is how can you figure out which end spike is on? I got all correct except spike.
fun one to figuere out. i did it on paper.
Good one. I put it on paper & the pieces fell in place tighter than a chain link fence. Good clues. Good one:
good job,not 2 hard but not that easy....like the others i had to use paper and a pencil
It's too late in the night for me to drag out the pencil and paper. I just gave up trying and shot straight for the answer.I come back later and figure it out.
cause I already forgot what the answer was.!!!! Good one though. I like teasers that make me think.

nice one. i too had to use paper and pencil! i liked the clue about princess being in between lady and fluffy.i noticed i could switch the two outside dogs so duke could be next to lady.keep these coming i actually like spending time solving riddles using paper and pencil.
i'm sorry...did not get this one . You mean you actually needed paper and pencil to figure this one? No wonder i did not get it. oh well good teaser anyway...even tho i am lost

fair enough, at least it made me use my mind for a while though, thanks...good job
nice teaser, it was fun to do
god, i feel so stupid . . . . i tried to make a logic grid with notepad . . . i just gave up because i didn't have the patience to deal with it! oh well! good teaser, but this should have come with the logic grid solver thing most logic puzzles have . . .
Gr8 teaser I liked it
GOOD ONE
nice and easy..good job
kool beanz!!! i finally got 1 rite! lik the others i used pencil and paper i lik the kind of riddles that make me think!! please make more of these!(a lot more)
These are usually hard because there's not enough info is given but I got this one!!
I reached for the pencil twice, but held my ground. Then I reached for it again and solved it! Very enjoyable!
good one
That was a good one!-I actually got it right!!!!
that was a good one! it took me a while to figure it out!!!
You guys who said this one was hard or you had to use paper and pencil have to be kidding. I solved this one in my head in less than one minute. Way too easy.
I used pencil and paper, so it was easy, but I like it!
YAY!! Been gone for awhile & this is the 1st one I have been able to completely solve since I got back. Thanks & keep 'em coming.
Aug 02, 2005
Very easy. I think the "Princess is to the loft of Beau" clue is redundant.
GOOD ONE
you guys are dorks
Yey!!! I did it! Goodone...I enjoyed it because It made me work but it wasn't so hard that I couldn't get it...I enjoy being right!!! Thanx

Good one.. easy enough if you use paper. I can't hold seven names in my head (ordered or not)
Yeah I got it, and quick too. This is a great teaser and it made me think, but not to hard. I loved it.
easy but fun. enjoyed it! Thanks!
no need 4 hint #2...easy enough even w/out pen n paper...
Thanx. Kennel madness was very logical.D,L,F,R,P,B,S., all in a row.
I went with the old P&P (pencil and paper) crowd for this one. Those dogs gave my brain a run for its money. Good teaser.
I have to agree on clue #2 being totally useless. Still, it is a good teaser for P&P users. I figured it out in my head in just a few minutes...but that is me.
GOOD CLUES! You didn't make it impossible to solve.
I don't have the patience for this kind of teaser. Maybe next time.Good teaser, clear directions.Good job.
I also thought at first: "No, I'm not going to get all riled up trying to figure this one out." Then, I said: "Well, let me give it one real try. I will pretend that I'm a genius, and that I can see all this in my mind instead of writing it down."
And, I GOT IT! yay!!! yay!!! yay!!!
That was a good one, and just easy enough, but not way too easy. Thanks very much!

I didn;t have enough time and pa tience to do it, sorry
Good, I got right away (with paper and pencil of course).
Nice teaser! I can usually figure out these logic problems with pen and paper. Life's logic problems are a different story!
It should have been in the "Logic-grid" category.
My ten yearl old helped me. She says this is a fun one tho I did not get it all the way. Thanks for the fun!
Hey, i'm the 50th comment! woohoo!
I don't like teasers where i have to write stuff down, but maybe i'll do it later, i didn't look at the answer! hahaha!

good one love it!
Challenging but not too hard!
Fun! Nice teaser.
Fun! Nice teaser.
yup, used pencil and paper (it's a test of logic, not memory!)
yup, easy so I didn't have to write much
yup, clue #2 isn't needed
yup, fun, because I like these

These are my favorite types of puzzles.
I found clue #2 unnecessary, too.
Sure wish you could have put the METHOD for the solution, as well, just for completeness sake.

"Yup" some people can do'em in their heads!
Good puzzle, These are my favorites. got a little confused as to my left or their left, but got the right answer anyway. Thanks!
Yay, 58th person to comment. Same as above I found clue 2 to be redundant. And for those who have issues with the logic-
The only dog to be between L & is P, which means somewhere along the line there is either LPF or FPL. As D is to the immediate left of L it can't be FP(D)L, so it would need to be DLPF. Knowing that R is 3rd from right, there's only one side of R that has four slots, so we have DLPFR??. S is on the end so it must be DLPFR?S (because if S where on the other end it would then move R). So by process of elimination - borne out by Q2, the correct order has to be DLPFRBS.
Mind you if you've read this far in the comments I'm guessing I'm not telling you anything you didn't already work out.

I like these. Can do them in my head in the morning, but usually am not seeing them until after 6 P.M. so I rely on paper and pen.
Easy Peasy. I did it in about 2 minutes. I did use a pen and paper though hehe
Took a lot of thinking . guess I should try paper. I like this and thought it was fairly hard.
not bad....was pritty easy
I got it! Keep these cumming please! I love them!
That was very cute and fun to do! Hey everyone....get over clue # 2!
Good one. I love logic puzzles. Being the total geek that I am, I didn't even attempt to work it out in my head but went straight to a classic logic grid whipped up in Excel. In retrospect, it was a little too easy for a grid, but hey, I got to make a grid. Yeah, I know, like I said, I'm a geek. Thanks for endulging my geekiness.
Nice stuff, quite easy and interesting. All you guys who solved this teaser without pencil and paper, hats off to you. I am getting too old to solve this type of teasers without P and P!
Not a bad one, no pencil or paper needed, several reads through the clues... but no notes. I did not read all the user comments, only a few, but in response to a some, im pretty sure there was only one answer... as opposed to multiple ones as some suggested.
Great Teaser Challenging Yet fun at the same time. Good Work!!!!!!!!!!
Yup, I completely agree with you Qrystal...lol!!!
Dog gone - no pun intended, ha ha, I got it with P & P of course, but I got it. Don't know if it was just luck or if my logic is getting better. Good job.
Good Teaser!
Nice morning logic teaser. Had to get out pen and paper, got it fairly quickly then.
Logic is pretty easy for me.
I love logic problems, and it was an easy one. I almost always use P & P on logic probs, and I don't apologize for that. I would love to see more of these. Thanks for a good start to my morning.
That was a tail wagger!
DOGone,I figured this one fairly easy.
i scetched this one out and it was easy and super fun
awsome
@Riddlerman:
Lady, Princess, and Fluffy all had to be next to each other, with Duke to the left of lady - so that's 4 dogs fixed (heh) together. With Rover locked into the 3rd from the right spot, the only place for 4 consecutive dogs are 1-4.
So if spike were on the left, either Rover couldn't be 3rd from the right, or the duke-lady-princess-fluffy quartet would be broken.

I'm so confused!!!
To Riddlerman: If you number the spots 1 thru 7, Third from the right is spot number 5 - you don't place yourself at number 7 and then count back 3, you count spot 7 as number one on the right, spot 6 as number two on the right and spot 5 as number three on the right. Rover would be at spot 5. Now that I've thoroughly confused both of us, I have to say I enjoyed this teaser even though is was easy.
Am I the only one aside from donfrench who found this way too easy? The fourth and fifth clues alone tell you where four dogs in a row are (relative to each other) and the first and third clues place the rest with ease. As some have stated, the second clue isn't even necessary.
I do not usually do these and just make a remark and skip it all, but tonight I decided to give it a try and I got them all right. I am so proud of my self. Yaaay me!!
Pretty easy, but still lots of fun. I am curious how the person who said he only got Spike wrong manged that? If Spike is in the wrong place, than the do that belongs where you put Spike would also be wrong. It i impossible to have only one wrong.
That's my kind of puzzle! A tad easy, but.. something anyone can figure out it they put their mind to it.
The main thing is I got it. However also having relied on pen and paper for the solution, I didn't find this teaser as easy as the rating suggests. Worth the effort!
Easy. Notepad works just as well as pen and paper, by the way. Also leaves less clutter.
Fun & easy with pen & paper, thanks!
Very fun puzzle. Sufficiently challenging to be interesting if you do it in your head.
Hmmm, this is twice now that I completely agree with Snowdog. Perhaps he is my Mr. Robot?
