A Lonely Fall
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.
Alone I fall to the earth and raise as many in rebirth.
Grind and sift and pound me down,
I raise again a golden brown
So you may live through my defeat
What am I ?

| whoa...
Some advice: Think laterally. (whatever THAT means.).
Bread doesn't rise and then drop itself to create itself once again.
Good teaser... Almost had me stumped but I think the first line gave it away. |

| John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. |

| very nice. the only part i don't get is the first line. "alone I fall . . . and raise as many". I guess I'm thinking that one grain of wheat alone can't make any bread at all. It takes many. So why "alone"? |

perhaps because you plant a single grain of wheat "alone"and from it you get a stalk with "many" grains
Nice riddle ! Only had to read it twice to get it! well done. |

| Pound me correctly, I got it right on the second try. I don't understand the defeat of what? Not being able to withstand the shedding or grazing or being grounded into another substance.? |
