Penguin Problems
Trivia brain teasers have some element of trivia in them, but they are not just pure trivia questions.
In the beginning of March, the great emperor penguin makes its 70 mile journey to its breeding grounds in Antarctica; however, in September, it only has to go a couple of miles to get back to the water.
How is this possible?
Answer
In March, it is the start of fall, and the water is frozen solid for long distances. In September, the temperature starts to warm up, and the ice melts very quickly. So, their journey is shortened considerably.

| Don't mind the first commentator. There's always one in the crowd.
Easy, but nice. Especially since I had to remember that the seasons in the southern hemisphere are the reverse of the northern hemisphere (where I live).

| Poor penguins. They have to go a long way to get some penguin smooches. |

| Isn't nature clever. If they didn't travel so far "inland" in the winter they would end up thawed out by Summer. Smart penguins! |
