In the final battle against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Neville Longbottom, Bill Weasley and Draco Malfoy must, in some order, cast one of 5 spells. Additionally, they must cast their spells in sync with their girlfriends to increase the potency of the only tool against Dark Magic: Love. The boys are dating either Cho Chang, Fleur Delacour, Hermione Granger, Ginny Weasley or Luna Lovegood. They each cast one of the following spells: Expelliarmus (disarms opponent), Reparo (repairs an object that is broken), Impendimenta (freezes opponent), Silencio (silences opponent), or Scourgify (cleansing spell).

1. Neville doesn't know how to cast a Reparo spell.

2. The 5 girls are the one dating Ron, the one who cast first, the one who used the Impendimenta spell, the one dating Harry, and the one who cast third.

3. Ron first began to realize just how wonderful his girlfriend, Luna (who is superstitious and therefore won't be the last to cast a spell), was when she was a substitute commentator at a Quidditch game.

4. Draco and his girlfriend cast fourth.

5. Bill has always been fond of his girlfriend's ability to cast the Scourgify spell, and so chose to cast that spell.

6. The five boys are Draco, the one dating Cho, the one who cast second, the one using the Scourgify spell, and the one who cast fifth.

7. None of boys cast a spell with the same first initial as their name.

8. Hermione is known for her skill in casting an Impendimenta spell, so her date picked that spell to cast.

9. Ron thought it would be "bloody brilliant" if he could make someone else keep quiet, so he cast the Silencio spell.

10. Fleur refused to allow her boyfriend and herself to cast their spell in any place but third, her lucky number.

pretty good! even if i dont like harry potter!
Aug 10, 2005

Isn't this copywrite violation though?
Aug 10, 2005

i loved hp so i loved the theme...altho i didnt like who was dating who...i mean hermione and draco?? what about hermione and ron??? if u cant tell im a hr/r and a h/g shipper!!
Aug 10, 2005

Logic thells us that Hermione and Draco would never date. If you are going to use such a popular premise for your puzzle at least stick to the facts..
Aug 10, 2005

I liked that teaser a lot. Even if it didn't stick to the facts from the book. It took me a few times going thru the clues to figure it out, but you don't want one that is easy enough to go thru them only once. Great job. I think you did awesome.
Aug 10, 2005

I am a ron/hermione fan too...but it wouldn't be very difficult for all the harry potter fans if i stuck to (all) the books' facts...
Aug 10, 2005

Awesome, very well done.

I don't think Harry would repair Voldemort's heart though
Aug 10, 2005

But you named He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, didn't you?!?
Aug 10, 2005

i thought some of the pairings were a little...strange......but i liked the little story thing at the end......great job!
Aug 11, 2005

Well done!
Aug 11, 2005

Sorry, I didn't like this one.
Aug 11, 2005

Pretty Hard teaser...actually had to think this one through. Though I have to agree, Hermione & Draco would not date...ever.
Aug 11, 2005

pretty straightforward and easy clues, but I need that every once in a while. I disagree about using prior knowledge to solve this. I understand why you made it "not right" with the pairings. In a grid puzzle you should only need the clues. I thought it was fun!
Aug 12, 2005

Loved this puzzle! I agree that it would have been too easy had you stuck to the pairings in the books! Great job!
Aug 13, 2005

Aug 16, 2005

I liked this on alot!

I'm glad it didn't use the pairings in the book, made it so that you actually ad to read the clues
Aug 16, 2005

I agree with sissy. If it stuck to the book, it would have been to predictable
Aug 17, 2005

I like how it sticks to SOME facts but not all. Like Harry and Ginny and Bill and Fleur. That's a correct pair. Great teaser
Aug 25, 2005

Nice 1
Sep 01, 2005

this was an ok puzzle except for the fact it went totally against the nature against the harry potter books. i almost ruled out hermione and draco because i knew it would never happen in the books. other than that it was ok
Oct 03, 2005

I loved it. I'm glad you didn't stick to the story or else there wouldn't have been a whole lot to figure out. I love harry potter, so this was a crack-up for me. well done
Nov 05, 2005

Once again, isn't this copywrite violation?
Nov 05, 2005

That would make all of the fanfics out there illegal, and a band, and a whole bunch of websites....
Nov 06, 2005

No, this is for personal gain, using somebody else's "stuff" under their name.
Nov 07, 2005

Ok Softparachutes, How much money did you get for this puzzle????? Get real!!!!!!
Nov 07, 2005

Copy right violation???????
Nov 11, 2005

a teaser isn't for personal gain.
Nov 14, 2005

liked it. good job. i was concerned for a few minutes that Ginny would be dating her brother!
Nov 23, 2005

Hermione n Draco
i dunt think so
Dec 03, 2005

This was good! Too bad I didn't find it until now!
Dec 15, 2005

The couples were sometimes right but otherwise PRETTY weird. Send me an e-mail on this site for a website i made where you can be a hogwarts student online! (or just post here)
Jan 02, 2006

I got it! Yay! I had to think for this one. Great teaser.
Jan 06, 2006

I read the books so would'nt people know who was dating who?And since when has bill weasley or draco seen the dark lord?
Jan 12, 2006

pretty good--i liked how it didn't "stick to the facts" as SOME are saying... if it did, it would've been easier to solve. :\
Jan 13, 2006

I liked that you put the couples together in a way that we know would never happen. It made it harder because we assumed we knew who was dating who.
Jan 26, 2006

Wow that was kinda hard. But it was cool...
Feb 20, 2006

I think it was especially interesting with some of the weird matchups. Those are what made it fun.
Jun 16, 2006

it's oooookkkkkkk, but sorta boring. mostly hated it. not into harry potter.
Aug 17, 2006

How can you post a teaser if you don't even have 250 points? okay teaser.
Jun 02, 2007

ok... ...kinda boring
Aug 10, 2007

Dec 08, 2007

this was 'bloody brilliant!'
Dec 13, 2007

Very interesting...never thought I'd see the day when Hermione and Draco would be dating

Also, since when has Draco agreed to help defeat Voldemort?
Feb 04, 2008

I didn't mind the pairings but the defeat story was horrible.
Mar 10, 2008

As the point of a logic problem is logic, and not telling a story, you did a fantastic job!!!
Dec 21, 2011

Dramione forever!
Mar 06, 2012

I liked this! Glad you had fun with the Harry Potter universe!
Oct 12, 2015

Plot twist!
