Trivia
Trivia brain teasers have some element of trivia in them, but they are not just pure trivia questions.Trivia
One evening two friends, Carmen and Ana, were talking in Spanish via instant messenger. Both women were from Sevilla, Spain but Carmen was currently in Rome, Italy. Both friends traveled a lot and did not often get to spend time together, so they agreed to meet at a certain tourist attraction the following evening. When the appointed time rolled around and Carmen wasn't there, Ana called her on her cell phone. Carmen insisted she was in the right place, and that Ana was the one that was late. Eventually the confusion was sorted out, and it was discovered that both women were technically right. How is this possible?
Hint
The answer lies in the cities.Answer
The name of the tourist attraction, in Spanish, was "Plaza de España". In Sevilla there is a tourist attraction by this name, it is the location of the 1929 Worlds Fair. Since the women were speaking Spanish, not Italian, the same name would be used to refer to the Roman tourist attraction made famous by Audrey Hepburn's movie "Roman Holiday", the famous "Piazza di Spagna". Since both women traveled a lot, they both assumed that the other was traveling to the "Plaza de España" closest to them.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

This language confusion sure got me confused. Good teaser and good job on it. Keep them coming as i enjoyed it a lot.
Good teaser!
It was f;un and pretty easy as long as you know tourist atrractions
I was guessing on a colisseum in Seville, so right idea wrong details for me.
that was pretty easy. i spea some spanish and at first i thought that maybe they spke different styles, but then i saw they were both from spain. good teaser
well, this appears to be one of those teasers that requires the reader to know way too much about pointless facts. why don't you make teasers anyone could know the answer too, not just travel experts?
great teaser - i knew it had something to do with the language (of course) but couldn't work out what.
well done
well done
Thanks for all the comments! This is my first teaser, so I really appreciate the feedback!
confusion is right!
I thought it was quite good.
I think this was a poor teaser as they would not be confused due to the fact that they were typing not speaking they could see not hear what was being said
This is in response to the comment left by Kebron: I'm confused as to why you think this is a poor teaser. It doesn't matter whether they were speaking out loud or using an instant messenging system- out loud or spelled out they will still be using the same words. Plaza de España is going to be the same whether you say it out loud or write it out on a computer screen. The teaser states that they were speaking Spanish and thus calling the two locations by their spanish names so both would still be called "Plaza de España"
I thought it was very good even though I didn't get it- I was leaning towards a state with those places in them and couldn't think of one!
Kepp them coming!
Is it just my computer? I can't seem to display some of the characters printed in the answer. It doesn't make sense.
Very good teaser, and by the way I really enjoyed 'Roman Holiday'. Keep up the good work.
