| The original name of the game is Cluedo, which is a pun on Ludo. Ludo is called Pachisi in the USA, so the name of the Cluedo was changed to Clue. I like this teaser, but Cluedo shoudl be listed as an alternate answer. |

| This was a really great teaser! I had to look at the answer(s) but it was fun. I've never played the game Clue, but I've seen the movie a few times. It's hilarious! It has Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Michael Keaton, Leslie Ann Warren, Christopher Lloyd, and I forget who else, but it was a riot! |
smee
Jan 03, 2006
| Oh, I remember now.... Mr. Green was played by Michael Keaton, Professor Plum was Christopher Lloyd, Mrs. Peacock was Eileen Brennan, Mrs. White was Madeline Kahn, Miss Scarlet was Leslie Ann Warren, Colonel Mustard was Martin Mull, and Tim Curry played the butler. |

| I never played clue. What the heck is it.? I got the plum and white ones right. It was okay. |
shawneeo
Jan 03, 2006
| I didn't get it! I noticed a "u" in mustard, then two "u"'s in the two months between May and July, so then I was on a roll... the wrong way...
Oh well, to feel better, I'll complain: I don't know if white is really considered a "neutral" color. Since "ecru" IS a "neutral" color, that gave more ammunition to my "u" theory. I'm not totally sure, but I don't think of white as neutral, that's like, beige, ecru, tan, isn't it? White is at one end of the scale, it's an extreme.
Thanks though, still fun and good! |

It was interesting to learn the original European name, Cluedo.
And another positive comment from you-know-who!! I'm so excited! I'm pulling for you to keep it up!! Happy New Year! |

Jan 04, 2007
| That was a great teaser!! I'm still grinning!! I love the game Clue, and I'm half inclined to start calling it Cluedo to join the rest of the world.
I got the answer just from mixing mustard, grape, and white, and then realizing that grape should actually be plum. I had no idea why green worked for the months until I looked at the answer, but I realize now that I should've known.
My sister, who's here visiting, was working through the teaser after I insisted that she'd enjoy the answer... She quickly got peacock to add to the three mentioned above, but had to think about the other two. I told her I didn't see how the clue for #3 fit the answer, in case that helped. After puzzling over it awhile, she said to herself out loud, "I don't have a clue--- OH! CLUE!!!"
I'm gonna go find an online game of clue now. |

| After the 1st two (mustard and plum) I figured it must be the characters in the game of clue. Although I got them, I couldn't get the connection between May and August and the color green - until I looked at the answer - very clever! |
