Sylasearch 2
Language brain teasers are those that involve the English language. You need to think about and manipulate words and letters.
In a sylasearch I give you a syllable-starter, which is the first syllable in the words you are to find. I will also give you a listing of the other syllables
(in which each may only be used once) which you must use to figure out the 9 words.
Syllable List - a, a, a, al, don, en, graph, ic, ka, keet, lel, ly, med, ses, the, tial, ty
Syllable-starter: par
How many syllables, each word has:
1. (2)
2. (2)
3. (2)
4. (3)
5. (3)
6. (3)
7. (3)
8. (4)
9. (4)
Answer
1. Parka (par ka)
2. Pardon (par don)
3. Party (par ty)
4. Paragraph (par a graph)
5. Parallel (par al lel)
6. Parakeet (par a keet)
7. Partially (par tial ly)
8. Parentheses (par en the ses)
9. Paramedic (par a med ic)

| As long as you're excersing what is between your ears (memory, intellect) this is a good thing. Puzzling these word games is similar to a jigsaw puzzle. Simply work on fitting the pieces together. Different puzzles interest different people. I really enjoyed this one. I tip my hat.... |

Me thinks these were just fine for a way to wake up. Maybe some of us don't want to strain our intellects prior to our 6th cup of coffee. If you can do better, challenge us, otherwise, be nice.

At any rate, I liked it CD....you rock as usual! I had para and partial for 2 syllable words in addition to the ones you gave us. |

| My ESL students enjoyed this one. It is a good vocabulary building exercise. We use these games as creative word pattern building exercising. Thank you and well-done |

| I loved it!
P.S. to lmurry... if you use your memory, you use your brain (memory is part of the brain's function). And on a health note... using your brain can help improve your memory. I've heard about studies that say that the more you read and study throughout your life (not just in youth and young adulthood) the less risk you have of developing Alzheimer's.... so, by all means, use that memory and use that brain! |

| I like the Sylasearch series. I have fun with them, but as with the first one, you neglected to mention that each syllable in the syllable list can only be used once. I only knew it because of the first one, and I suspect that a lot of people on this comments section did the first one as well, so they knew it too. But it might be a little confusing for a newbie. Just a suggestion... otherwise, it was great! I got 'em all right, and that makes me feel smart... uh-HYUK uh-HYUK! |

Dec 29, 2005
| fun but really easy. Another 2 syllable word was partial, you used it as a 3 syllable word with the -ly. |
vlerma
Dec 29, 2005
| Nice little after the holiday teaser there cdrock. As to not eough a's, wrong, the word par al lel is where it felt like you needed that extra a, but as you can see to spell it right it needed the al. I enjoyed these kinds of teasers !!!Not too hard, just amusing. |
vlerma
Dec 29, 2005
| Oh well, speaking of spelling, I guess my FINGERS can't. Sorry, enough is just enough. Til next time ya'll have Happy Holidays. |

| I CAN'T REMEMBER WHAT I SAID A YEAR AGO, MAYBE IT'S JUST A CASE OF NOT BEING ABLE TO REMEMBER WHAT I FORGOT.
ANYWAY, FAR TOO EASY TO BE CONSIDERED A "BRAIN" TEASER.
MORE LIKE AN EXERCISE FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS AND AS SOMEONE MENTIONED ESL STUDENTS.
THE TEASER IS FINE, BUT THE EDITIORS AREN'T DOING THEIR JOB VERY WELL.
MAYBE NEXT YEAR. |

| A Superb teaser for the younger group. Somewhat easy for the older generation, but it still is entertaining. The editing crew could get some new ones in here.... Finding solutions to different dilemas can be mind intriquing. Keep them coming! |

Dec 29, 2006
| You didn't specify whether or not it was OK to re-use syllables, so I wound up with "partial" and rather than "parka." |

| I love word puzzles, and this one provided just enough of a challenge to make it fun! Hope to see more of these! |
auntiesis
Dec 29, 2006
| Easy-peasy, but fun. I also got partial and that almost threw me off, until I realized that the ka had to be parka.....whick left me with ly..... duh.... Not too hard, but it made me think. More, please. |

Arc73
Dec 29, 2006
| I got almost all of them, but you didn't list 'Partial' as one of the two syllable words. But anyway, it was super fun and challenging. |

Dec 29, 2006

Dec 29, 2006
| I like these Sylasearches, they are fun little teasers, but just wanted to chime in with Fulanito that you need to remember to specify that each syllable can only be used once. I only knew because I had done the first one, but it confused me there. Judging from the other comments, many people who did this one didn't realize that rule. Just some constructive criticism, otherwise, it was a fun teaser. Please do more! |

| There were too many variables for me or maybe I just didn't take the time to work it all out. |
thecatladycac
Dec 29, 2012
| I had almost all of them, but had the syllables "par ka ly" left - which didn't make much sense; but I also had "partial" as one of the words - using my brain , I made it partially and then had parka left - which means I eventually got them all! Fun teaser - Thank You! |
Quocalimar
Dec 31, 2012
| Didn't get Parka, never heard that word. and I stopped at partial so i didn't think to get partialy. |
