i'm assuming flanked means between, that's not a word we use here. anyhow, that was really hard.

Jan 01, 2006

What a great way to start 2006. Now let's see is this or is it not a prime number. Lord knows it was "flanked" by a rough 2005, but most of us made it one way or another. Glad we had Briangle to keep our brains addled. HAPPPPPPPY NEW YEARRRRR EVERY1!!!

Great teaser!!! Didn't got that one!!!

Jan 01, 2006

I knew it had something to do with prime numbers, but I couldn't figure it out fully enough. Very good.

Jan 01, 2006

Wow. what a wakeup! I was convinced it was a series of additions-4+2=6+6=12+6=18+12=30+12=42 +18=60 etc.
Nice One
Happy New Year!

Jan 01, 2006

Yeah, I thought it was a series of addition, but addition of what? Anyway, very hard, for math ret////, I mean math challenged people like me. Prime nos. are one of those things that we don't think of very much, heehee! Very good! Thanks!

HAAAAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Jan 01, 2006

Jan 01, 2006

I too was on the addition path with a couple of multiplication & minuses, but I was obviously on the wrong road Hee hee well Happy New Year to one & all!!

Jan 01, 2006

Like Thimblenoggin, I thought it had to do with addition, also. The teaser was hard, and therefore very fun.

I wasn't even close to thinking in that diirection! Too busy looking for differences between numbers or looking for factors, I got stuck in a rut.

Jan 01, 2006

Well, you got me for sure. I was going crazy trying to figure out the add-on pattern. Prime huh? I like mine rare
lindquist_25Aus*
Jan 01, 2006

Whatever. I just wrote down how much each number differed from the next one and came up with a pattern. Henceforth, I came up with 114, 126, and 138.

Jan 01, 2006

And it was wrong. But whatever. Smart thinking

Jan 01, 2006

Stumped me. The distribution of numbers reminded me of primes, but I was still trying to add subtract and multiply.

Excellent puzzle.

This one was difficult, but could also be solved many other ways. Nontheless, a good teaser with a good possible answer.
