NOT SURE WHAT TO SAY,
AS A TEASER, IT IS GOOD,
AS A RE-RUN, IT'S BORING.

Feb 01, 2007
| A fantastic teaser! Keep up the great work! As for Lmurray.. you have to realize that he doesn't know how to keep from tearing a teaser apart. No matter what! LOL Otherwise! No big deal! He doesn't realize that anyone can say something to *run down* an item, an action or an individual, even on the best of days. |

Feb 01, 2007
| The "mating pairs" reference was a bit too obscure for me. Fun overall though. |
craniac
Feb 01, 2007
| I agree the solution to #4 (toe + mate + toe) was too obscure for me. I came up with pear (from pair), but knew it was wrong. After I saw the answer, I came up with a more gestalt explanation: toe + ma (short for mama) + toe, which solves the problem of how to pronounce the ma segment, even though this solution is a bit short on logic. But who cares? The teaser was fun. |

Anyway, fun teaser. |

lucagrella
Feb 01, 2007
| I assumed #4 was explained as, what mother does is "to mate toes" hence tomatoes. Sadly, the only one I didn't get was #1, which was pretty simple, especially since it's the only one where the homonym was right there in the clue. I kept trying to think of a fruit or vegetable that sounded like "kids beg." :~}

| I thought tomato was kind of a stretch but the rest were fun. |
tamjp
Feb 01, 2007
| Tomato was good , lettuce was a stretch.
It was an ok teaser because it took a bit a braingling to figure out. I liked the rebusy ones.
I have to honestly admit that it seemed clumsy to me. To combine different formats for the clues made it seem rather random and awkward.
sorry but that is my honest opinion |
tamjp
Feb 01, 2007
| tis indeed UMBER patpat
sorry |

Feb 01, 2007
| I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought "peas" for # 1. The repetitive use of "Please" and in caps led me to that. I didn't even think "lettuce". I thought "pear" for #4...because mama was pairing (pearing) socks. Tomato didn't even cross my mind. |
Qrystal
Feb 02, 2007
| I got all except the one I was sure was pear. Oh well!
As for amber vs umber: amber's a golden yellow colour, umber's a brown colour.
Overall, I agree with tamjp, except that I thought the lettuce one was okay and the tomato one was a little odd... I've never associated pairing of socks with mating! And it's the socks that are being matched with their mates, not the toes! I don't know. I guess it works alright, but the pear idea seemed too similar to the lettuce one to not be the answer. |

| I found them to be pretty easy -- except for tomato - I even had to think about it for a while after I saw the answer, then finally caught on! - and I am familiar with "mating socks at the toes"! Over all, very good teaser!! |
