| Not to sound too pick-y... but what in the questions restrictions makes the following response less legitmite an answer?
Ice does not belong because, unlike the rest, it begins with a vowel. |

| How about tooth, it's the only one that isn't pluralized by adding an "s". |

| i came up with tooth because it was the only word that had repetitive letters in it |

| I removed ice because it was the only word you couldn't remove a letter and still have a word.

| yqtbjkn, a nit is a very small thing. to nitpick is to be critical about minutia.

| Not too difficult, but cute. I was trying to figure which ones could be either a verb or noun. When I came to nit...... the dawn came. |

| The answer "ice" because it starts with a vowel is wrong because that puzzle would be lame.
The answer "tooth" because it has a double vowel is wrong because that puzzle would be lame.
The answer "ice" because there's no way to remove a letter and leave a word is not as lame as the foregoing. It arguably isn't lame at all. However it's not as good a teaser as the intended answer. |

| And you can change the first letter of all but "ice" to S and create a new word. |
