Larger Than the Universe?
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.
What is larger than the universe,
More evil than the devil,
Poor people have lots of it,
Rich people need it,
And if you eat it, you will die?

| This is a classic. Sometimes they add the line: More powerful than God |

| Actually, it should read "The rich need it." This means that the rich need nothing, which is true. |

| I've a much more poetic variation on this one:
What doth man love more than life,
hate more than death or mortal strife?
'Tis that which contented men desire,
the poor possess, and the rich require,
the miser spends, the spendthrift saves,
and all men carry to their graves?
Classic riddle. Good stuff. |

| I was going to use that one too:
"What's greater than God, more evil than the devil, the poor have it, the rich need it, you're born with it, and if you eat it you will die!"
great one! |

| Good thing I browsed the teasers. I would have duplicated this one. But then I would have omitted the "universe" line and put in "more powerful than God".
Good one, this! |

| Wait, you said, "Rich people don't need it." So rich people don't need nothing? Isn't that a double negative? |

| If I don't care for a teaser I usually just don't comment. But I did like this one the many times I've heard it before usually starting with More powerful than God and the rich need it. I do like the one above in verse. I didn't expect to find such an old and common one at this site. |

| You shouldn't put "The poor have a lot of it" because that would be saying that the poor have a lot of nothing, which is technically impossible. Just put "The poor have it". |
