Brain Teasers
Detective Charles
Detective Charles knocked on Mr. Ricky's door. It was a case of robbery. Mr.Ricky's diamond, worth millions of dollars, had been stolen. The thief was very intelligent. He first disabled Mr. Ricky's safety device and then stole the diamond.
Detective Charles went to the safely guarded place where the diamond had been kept. He tried getting some fingerprints but failed to get any. Then Detective Charles tried questioning Mr. Ricky.
Mr. Ricky said that he had been sound asleep when the incident happened, and he did not know at what time the diamond was stolen.
Detective Charles then went out to question the keeper, the only other person living with Mr. Ricky at that time. The keeper said that he had been to his mother's place and did not have any information on the incident.
Then Detective Charles walked around outside the house to see if he could get any more clues. Walking on pieces of the glass, he saw that the window was broken. After a closer examination he saw that the window had been broken with the help of a hammer.
After some time, Detective Charles decided to arrest Mr. Ricky for faking robbery. How did Detective Charles come to know that Mr. Ricky had a part to play in this crime?

Answer
When Detective Charles was outside, he saw the window, along with shattered pieces of glass under his feet. This meant that the glass was broken from inside. The keeper had gone to his mother's place, and the only person who had access to the inside of the house was Mr. Ricky. It was confirmed that Mr. Ricky faked the robbery to get the insurance money.

Good mystery...especially for your first one! And surprise...I got it!
Ah yes, the old broken glass from the inside trick. Most 'elementary' Watson, but it still makes a good teaser.
Since Ricky was asleep he would have heard the window break and therefore have been able to tell the detective what time the robbery occurred
Since he was alseep he could not tell exactly at what time (when he was sleeping) the crime took place.
It was easy but at least it isnt too long like others. It was fun. Write some more.

The only hiccup I have with this one, is that when you break a window, you have glass both sides, not just oppisite the side you break it from.

i was a little disappointed with the answer because it did not say if he was outside looking or if he was inside looking...i actually thought of that answer but i wasn't sure because it didn't say if he was inside or outside. but it was still a really good story!!!!!!!!!!

i thought that it was going to be Mr. ricky was lying because there was a hammer and broken glass, but Mr. Ricky was asleep, and he would have waken up.
Nice mystery! U almost got it.
You never declare that the window was broken from the inside. your statement of "walking around the house" could just as easily mean indoors or outdoors. This puzzle was not solvable with the information provided.
well that was fairly easy good though
Very easy but yet very fun
