Apr 13, 2006

I think that there's more than one answer to that...but thats pretty interesting and easy too.
Apr 14, 2006

It is incorrect, based on the wording of the teaser. It is possible to make three identical squares by moving only two toothpicks, though your method is the only one (that I can see, anyway) that would leave no extras.

I assume that is what you meant.
Apr 15, 2006

I managed this one. Yea! Hope to see more, please. I think I like this kind
Apr 15, 2006

I moved the bottom square instead of the top square but it worked out the same, so yay
Apr 16, 2006

No it was stated to move 3 toothpicks to make 3 perfect squares, I almost did it )
Apr 23, 2006

Very Fun
Oct 20, 2006

I agree with Tissue. You can form 3 identical squares by moving only two toothpicks.
Nov 22, 2006

You can form 3 identical squares by moving only 2 picks. I thought perhaps this was supposed to be a trick.

The teaser should have been worded in a way such that be no unfinished boxes should be remaining.

No opportunity to submit a correction for this teaser either.

Fun teaser other than the confusion.
Apr 15, 2007

Agreed. I thought two picks moved to either side would suffice. Maybe an amendment needed: "make 3 squares using all the matches". good one though.

waaayyyy too easy... come on, were better than this!
Feb 23, 2013

I usually suck at these matchstick puzzles but this was easy. And fun. Keep 'em comin!
Jul 19, 2014

As another user mentioned I made three perfect squares using only two toothpicks. Perhaps you should add some restrictions making it so that you need to move three toothpicks without any being left over.
