Brain Teasers
How to Win?
You have no skill at magic tricks, yet you make a bet with your friend for $25. You tell him to pick a card, take a look at it, and put it back in the deck. You then shuffle the deck as many times as your friend wishes. You will then hand back your friend's chosen card. Even though you possess no magic skill whatsoever, and you have no idea what your friend picked, you can still win this bet. How?
Answer
You hand back the deck. You have just handed back the chosen card.Hide Answer Show Answer

Or have every card in the deck being identical... no one said it was a standard deck.
Or have marked cards, or ones you can see through the light.
Or put the card into the deck face up.
Or just accept the answer thats there
i said the same thing as the first comment here but i like urs so much better ha ha ha ha

I thought the same as the first too. I loved it, I need to try it on my brother!
hehe... I also thought to make every card in the deck be identical
cute!!
Very funny.
I see my answers were thought of by others. I too would have a deck of all the same card or just turn the deck over so that the inserted card was now the only one facing that direction. Cute teaser.
lol
I got it! yay
good one
My name..., David Blaine.
Somehow I don't think I'd win any money of I tried that one!
I would not accept that. It is still a greas puzzle.
weirdest joke i have ever heard, but funy and so obvious, it's not!
LOL cute idea and perfect in theory.
Very good! I had a "duh" moment while I thought about the answer~LOL!
i got it right away.
WOW! It's really funny!
(But I will point out that there's one magic trick that almost doesn't require training and does the same thing)

i knew about that deck!
put card in deck upside-down relative to all the other cards. easy.
Good one! I tried it on my parents this weekend and we had a good laugh over it.
You could just shuffle the deck were the card isn't. You got me there!
Hmmm, if I tried this one on my friends, I'd get beat up and robbed by them.
very good one and i do think that you should have put in all of the possible answers for it but i give it a 10 out of 10
Heehee... great trick!
I might just do that on my friends!
I might just do that on my friends!
I don't know, the answer is a little ify-ify
ALTERNATIVE- The teaser never said what the bet was.
Easy, but I enjoyed it. Very cute. i got it right.
Great teaser! I thought that the trick was in the wording of "You tell him to pick a card, take a look at it..." - I thought maybe the friend picked the card and then you just look at it I like your answer better though
This terrifically-worded teaser is done is such a way, everyone whos tries it, will always be a winner. This is an older trick, and I can always get interesting looks when I pull it on them. I enjoyed it.
LOL
Thats good
I love it

"You then shuffle the deck as many times as your friend wishes"
Call me crazy, but why would my friend be stupid enough to not shuffle the deck at all?
Call me crazy, but why would my friend be stupid enough to not shuffle the deck at all?
I HAVE to try this with my friends
Or just put a nail mark on the card that he chose and find it.
The answer and the several alternate answers suggested by various persons are all clever. But I don't think I could talk any friend of mine into paying me $25 on such a bet. They're not stupid.
??? Answer makes no sense
Boo!
Tricky, tricky...
Lots of alternate answers but still fun. Thanks!
I flipped the deck so that only his card was face up. Not right, but the real answer was tricky.
Sorry but this one was totally lame.
Im a witchs cat
I also thought of all the cards being the same or a marked deck. The problem with the marked deck is the teaser states "you possess no magic skill whatsoever" - I took a lot of magic courses when I was young and owned several mared decks. I can tell you most marked decks are marked the same way, and it takes someone with training to be able to read them. If I handed you a marked deck and told you it was marked, most ppl would have problems figuring out where the marks are and have no idea how to read them.
Unless you friend is an idiot, he is not going to put his card face up if the rest are face down or vice versa.
There was one trick I learned at about 6 or 7 (the first classes I took) in which you had cards that had a picture instead of a pattern on the back so that you had them all with the picture right side up and then while you were talking to your friend and shuffling the deck (prior to his replacing his card) you spun it around so that they had the picture upside down yet his went in right side up.
There are many different answers to this question.

Sorry, but I must file this in the STUPID file.
it made me try to figure it out, and that's why Braingle is here! nope, didn't get it
Hah! That's brilliant! Loved this one. I thought the answer might be "by picking any card and getting lucky," because the question asked "how you could" do it, not necessarily indicating that you would have a good chance of it working.
Lame.
Some people have no appreciation for lexical semantics and the exploitation of loopholes thereof.
I am with the group who think this was a lame game! It just was not funny!
We thought this was a good one!
I liked it!
Although, technically the details of the bet were never specified?
However, as soon as I saw the category, I solved it.

I didn't really like it.
Ooh! That's sneaky!
