Hint gave it away, but nice job!
Isn't the core split up into two sections? (inner/outer core). Look in any Science book, or many websites and you will see that they count the inner and outer portions of the core (as they are different). In inner core is solid, and the outer core is liquid.

Some sites even say that there is an Upper/Lower mantle as well.

I got it with the hint. Cool one.
shouldn't that be of THE Earth? Just nit-picking.
yeah I got that one... hint really gave it away though
There are four sections, the inner core and the outer core are different things. The inner core is solid from the weight of the outside earth, despite the heat, and the outer core is rock as a liquid.
i got it right with the hint...cuz i was taught there are the inner core and the outer core and even possibly an upper/lower mantle so i guess its just the way you see it. good teaser though!
Geez guys, take a breather! If they're both termed "core", then there's a reason they're associated. This teaser is fine; well done Sputnik!
Thanks Paul and yes this was how I was taught in school many moons ago, and I did do a quick google check befre I submitted it and it was still crust, mantle and core.
Thanks for those who liked it, and for those who don't, sorry about that.

I needed the hint, and had to ponder quite a bit after the hint, but it finally clicked. I really like these letter equations that state the general, then list out the specifics in parentheses. Check out some of Sputnik's other teasers for more examples of this style.
