Impossible?
Science brain teasers require understanding of the physical or biological world and the laws that govern it.
I am sometimes a single cell, feeding. When times are rough I coagulate with more like me to become a moving thing, a multicellular organism, looking like an animal. I move to a better place to live, and become a plant. As a plant I grow many small black spores, and release them, to reproduce.
What am I?
Answer
I am a slime mold.
It starts off as a single cell organism, feeding on its surroundings. When the food source gets scarce, it gets together with more slime mold and becomes an organism that is called a pseudoplasmodium and is capable of slug-like movement. It crawls to a more favorable location, and changes into a plant. It erects a stalk which grows small black spores which it releases all at one time, and the process starts all over again.

| OH NO! CAN IT BE TRUE! It's creeping up my arms, taking possesion of my body. I am no longer who I used to be...I...am...the mold. Maybe I'm intoxicated with Spider-man or something, anyway, great teaser. I liked the fact. |
