I DON'T GET how someone could NOT know how to play a joke...what dull lives they lead if no one plays jokes on THEM.
I mean after all...they DO visit this site RIGHT?????

Joining the ranks of people who thought it was an egg until I got past "made" I dan't know why I automatically thought egg. Maybe my brains are scrambled. Yep, brains omelet, coming right up.

Not too bad of a joke.
This teaser is so jokes! The answer just popped into my head as soon as I finished reading it.
Very cute! Liked it much!
HA HA HA HA HA
I got a joke, but the expression "to play a joke" doesn't really have as much meaning here as it does in other parts of the world.
Very well done teaser. Had me going for a min., and then it just popped into my head.
sorry, someones gonna laugh at me, but how do you CRACK a joke??
im sure its something obvious, but im having a moment...

nice one!
I thought it was and egg at 1st, but then I didn't know how an egg could be played or told (I guess you could play with the baby chick that comes out of an egg). Funny teaser!
I kept trying to make "code" fit, and finally looked at the answer. All the clues fit "joke" but I never think of "cracked" a joke, although I've heard it used.
Good one, though.
Good one, though.
$ourDough thought it was a "VOICE"!
Well done!

I thought it was a woman... I know retarded answer, though it kind of makes sense
I thought it was a woman... I know retarded answer, though it kind of makes sense
I thought of bell!!!!
Haha, would have never guessed!
The riddle itself is too general, many things can be cracked, made, told and played. But I answered puzzle game lol XD.
The real JOKE is the editors that keep repeating wornout teasers!!! What is my friends opinion?
That was the easiest teaser I've seen - I thought "a joke" before I read it through!
Took me a minute, but then it dawned on me. I had to laugh.
DO NOT READ YOU WILL BE KISSED BY YOUR TRUE LOVE TOMOROW,BUT IF YOU DON'T POST THIS ON 2 TEASERS YOU WILL TRAGICLY DISSAPEAR ,BELIVE ME IT WORKS
Don't usually get riddles, but once I discarded 'egg', I got 'joke' right away; some of us need a do-able one once in a while!
& doehead, if the editors didn't repeat, I, for one, would be missing some fun teasers! Some of us are not on this site every year, every day!!

KittyGirl19, you've made me very nervous. I'm not sure if I'm not supposed to read something, or I shouldn't kiss my true love. BUT I would like an inch or two to disappear from my hips, so I'm going to take my chances! I'll let you know in a day or so what happens!
I loved it! Very very easy but just so... fun!
Very cute!

I was trying to think of everything that could be cracked and should have known about jokes, but I came up with "voice" and was wrong. That was a good one! Thanks!

Cute teaser! Thanks for posting.
BB02 - please stop addressing me in your comments, keep my name out of your mouth...
Not that it really matter anyway as this is getting old and boring to me and I am taking a break from the site (observe the "last online" status on my profile it will reflect this).
And I will not be renewing my membership nor those of other members of the household.
This is a direct result of BB02.
I am done.

My first thought was an egg, second choice was voice, third choice.... lets just say I wasn't even close.
Hey HABsie .....
Sorry to see you go (really ... I really am) ...
Lest Jake (owner/operator of this webbie) feels your loss TOO much ....
Here's what I gonna go ...
You give Jake the number of "household" accounts you have (no more than six ... let's keep it reasonable) ... and have him contact me for my VISA number and I'll sign "you" up FOR LIFE (auto-renewal if he wants) as well as your household.
It's not just me. Dad (in his "last wishes" ... not the will which dealt with the legal stuff )... asked me to continue with Braingle using his DB of around 900-1000+ semi-developed and raw ideas for rebuses.
But ... for me ... it's a testament of how much I love Braingle and respect Jake for what he originally wanted to do with it.
I still think it's the best and most powerful language learning-tool on the net.
Send him an "e' .. get it done.
Then have him verify when the bills are paid. Just so's you'll know this is not an empty gesture. (hey ... that'd make a GREAT rebus ... "mtbird" ... get it? ... get it? ... ) ( nooo ... you probably wouldn't).
I'm doing this for all those who've - up to this point - made Braingle what it is.
What's your story?

Here is my comment on the teaser:
Very easy way to start my day.
Very easy way to start my day.
"What's my story"? What do you mean? My story is I enjoy(ed) Braingle and the various sections therein but the teaser section is now becoming a bit of a bore. OR least the comment thread.
I have rethought my rash decision to abandon Braingle. I have decided that while I will henceforth be avoiding the Teasers section, I will continue to enjoy the quizzes, contribute to the TBs of which I am member and play and run both WWG and WTB.
I wil not be bullied into leaving site by some Keyboard Cowboy.
Hope all i well in "New Zealand"

HABsie ... glad you reconsidered ....
My offer will continue to stand, though, if needed in the future.
And I don't want you to think I was trying to pressure you into continuing under my largesse (LIU) or that your wish to eschew (LIU) Braingle-participation would be abortive.
OR ... that it was a "golden-hearted" gesture.
Trust me ... "hearts-of-gold" I have not (some aver it doesn't even exist ... in ANY molecular form) ...
Although the NZ job is turning out to be incredibly lucrative (so my support of you/household would not make a significant dent) I think I can even get it as a "travel write-off".
I'm taking a few days vacay back in the States over the 4th and will spend a couple nights in-out at the same hotel (the one with the clock) in Tokyo.
I got acquainted with the Owner-Operator and showed him how to use his new booking-billing-advert software which will save him a jillion yen a year and also hooked up his new "3-D" printer (even makes filing cabinets for hard copies).
So he's "on-my-hook" for favors. Also, he's not heard the story (yet) of HABsie's clock. He's got a great sensa Yuma (for not having been there) so I think he's gonna LOVE the tale.
I also think I can get his granddaughter a job offer by one of my clients in L.A. She's got a LOT of skills that would do her well in the States.
Gotta go ...
(welcome back)

BBO2 - I do not need, nor want, your charity. I can well afford my own membership.
You are still working. I (at 41) have been retired for almost 10 years. I had to stop working for medical reasons and though I do not draw a pension form the government at all (though I am entitled to it) I somehow manage to survive quite well. My house wll be paid off in full before the end of this year (I bought it in 2009).
So again, thank you for your offer but it is not necessary. Why not gift some of the other Brainglers a membership.

Hey ... doodler .....
How'd it go with the editors?
Not good, huh ????
Maybe they discovered people like a little "jibber jabber" every now-and-then with the other stuff.
Gives it a little class, don't you think?

Great teaser, gave all ages a chance. I first thought it was a "code" but that didn't work with all the clues. Then I read it a few more times and I got joke. I am fairly new on here , but I sure wish people would keep comments in reference to the quizzes and teasers. Isn't there somewhere else to play your silly name calling games. If this is a family site this is no way to show children how supposed adults act. That will be my one and only comment on this issue in this area. Just wanted to make my feelings known as a newcomer here.
Coolnana, I agree some of the comments may see childish, but you are not seeing all of BB02's comments (as they have been removed,) and the way he/she trears other people and the obnoxious, condescending , and vile way in which he/she talks down to other members of the site. BB, BB02, BB03, and LGM (as well as several others), are all the same people.
That was fun! I'm going to tell everyone!!
I love this riddle. It is so old school. Simple, clever, nice rhyme. A good riddle in it's purest form. Nice!
Fun, easy and entertaining teaser; I got this one right away.
Fun & ezy, thx 4 posting!
