Answer
25 April = Anzac Day in Australia and New ZealandANZAC Day - 25 April - is probably Australia's most important national occasion. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. Though the Gallipoli campaign failed in its military objectives of capturing Constantinople and knocking Turkey out of the war, the Australian and New Zealand troops' actions during the campaign bequeathed an intangible but powerful legacy. The creation of what became known as an "Anzac legend" became an important part of the national identity of both nations. This shaped the ways they viewed both their past and their future.

Wow, I wouldn't have gotten that in a million years, but it is definitely a good thing to remember. I've always heard far more about WWII than WWI, which is too bad really. You can't fully understand the second without an understanding of the first. Thanks for the reminder Jazz.
War is so bad. Thanks jazzmusician for reminding us about the evil in our world.
would have never gotten this!! thanks for the info about this jazz!
Thank you - the ANZAC legend made the Australian Identity.
We lost out last ANZAC 3 years ago and there are only three Australian WW1 veterans still with us. It wont be long until that link is gone.

It's very nice to know that people from Mexico know the significance and reverance of ANZAC Day in Australia. Thank you.
Thank you Elu...I have made ANZAC biscuits too...it was something we had to do when I was in Grade 6. They were as hard as blocks of concrete!
(Between you and me...I think mine were probably better than what the ANZAC's had to eat back then!)
