Brain Teasers
Looking In, Looking Out
You may find fire within me
Though to water I've been compared.
You may also find a twinkle
When through my pane you stare.
When of wind I am the calm
The center holding still.
When of you, a different part
My bottom lid, my sill.
You may look into me
only to see through.
You may indeed look out of me
Through my frame of varied hue.
The riddle in three parts
as letters in my name.
The riddle shows you who I am
But tell me just the same.
Who am I?
Though to water I've been compared.

clever
Can't think of when an eye is compared to water. Hmmm...
Beautiful poetry.
Beautiful poetry.
Perhaps when someone cries
I like the riddle - I write them like that, too. Was it hard for you? Hehe. Somehow I doubt it, I don't think they are hard. Anyways, a good one

I'm gonna clear up a little mystery here:
ahem, people sometimes say that an eye is like a pool;
Pool=Water

I also thought window, but knew that wasn't right after looking at the clue. Good one!
Oh, wow! That is written so cleverly. I got it, but needed the hint to clinch it ... I almost never solve riddles. Thanks.
That was a little too hard so early in the morning, need more coffee!!
got it in one, nice going!
I think `limpid pools` is the term used for the eyes
had to look at the hint to get this one, but great teaser!
I thaught it was a brain
The teaser said the answer was 3 letters-- couldn't have been brain.
I was thinking window, until you said it was three letters. Then the answer was clear. The eye. Thanks for the outstanding teaser. I loved it. Keep on posting.

Please explain: "You may find fire within me"
Window....eye....yep it had to be eye. Good one
When I read the first verse I was thinking diamond, but once that one was ruled out I just got lost. Very well written teaser!
i was thinking window too, but i saw it had three letters....i got it eventually.
that was a good one. very fun.
that was a good one. very fun.
"Fire in the eyes" is an expression used to show inner strength and passion
oh,,,it hought it was a window..
I thought the answer was "a window". but i am glad it wasnt because that would have been way to obvious. that was very well written. nice job.
I was thinking "stained glass window," but oh well. This was very clever! Good job!
Good, easy riddle - good poem - thanks!
arrrgh! you got me! really good riddle!
I also thought window, I didn't see eye coming at all.

Very nice riddle thanks, I loved it!
Loved it! I guessed after the hint.
I got it at the last minute before I gave up. Some of the lines were a bit strange in their wording, but it was okay!
Title gave it away. A bit on the easy side.
I knew window couldn't be the answer, but got stuck on it-should have had a broader view this morning Really neat to read!
Very nice poetry, and a good riddle.
My only question: How on earth does this a 1.89 difficulty? 0.89, maybe.

I got the answer, but I don't understand this part: "When of wind I am the calm". Can somebody please explain this to me?
Late to the answer, but if you check this William - that would be 'the eye of the storm'
I did not get this one - I also thought it was window. I would have never gotten "eye" from the wording of this teaser.
This is fantastic. Weaving five eye idioms (including the hint) and four feints to window in such a smooth and clear poetic form shows true craft. I disagree with Stormcrafter. Creating something like this is not easy.
For me, the reference to the eye of the storm was the determinative hint. i could then go confirm everything else fit.
Wonderful. This is art.

Very good! Not super hard, but still very clever.
