My Boomerang Won't Come Back!
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.
I'm made of wood, but I'm not a tree. I'm used specifically to throw things; but of course, I'm mainly used to find food, although I can be used to fight my foes.
I throw stone and wood, all at the same time. My aim is to reap either food or territories.
What am I?

A Woomera
A woomera is an Aboriginal spear-throwing device. It is made of wood and is used as a spear thrower, but has a sharp flake of stone attached to the end onto which the spear is attached. It can be used as a hunting tool, or else in war with neighbouring tribes. The "stone and wood" the woomera throws is, of course, the spear. The length is made of wood, whilst the point is made from stone.

Although I'm familiar with a spearthrower, I had never heard of a woomera. I thought it was a slingshot until I read the part about stone AND wood!! |

| the Woomera is mentioned in an episode of the Simpsons...and that's where I get all my knowledge 
also, the word "whilst" is one of my favorite words ever; not used enough in my opinion |
