The wife of a former candidate for President, ketchup, pickles, baked beans, and a dog with undefinable parentage, all have something in common. What is the letter equation that describes this common ground?

ie 57 = Number of Heinz Varieties
Teresa Heinz-Kerry is the wife of John Kerry, a former Presidential candidate (2004), and the former wife of the late senator, John Heinz, who was a member of the canning company.
Heinz is the common trading name for the H.S. Heinz Company known for their pickles, ketchup, condiments, baked beans, and soups.
And lastly, Heinz 57 Variety is a slang term used to describe a dog with an unknown mixture of breeds in its ancestry.

| Sorry guys, but it was unacceptabe as a letter equation so I had to turn it into a riddle, because of the referrence to the Brand name. So that is why I didn't submit it in the Trivia section. |

| Evidentally the remark about a dog being a Heinz 57 is much older than I thought and therefore the younger people may have never heard of that. A Heinz 57 dog is simply a mutt, which does not favor any particular breed, and it's parentage is unknown. And Heinz soups used to be advertised as Heinz 57 Varieties. I just tossed Senator Kerry's wife in for good measure. I hope this will explain the H=57V a little better to some. Thanks.  |
