Tough one. I got the correct answer for the wrong reason. I thought seismometer was either spelled wrong or there was no such word!

a tachometer measures revolutions per minute..not really the same as "speed"

Sorry Kahlan, but I have to disagree with you.

Tachometer: An Instrument to indicate rotational speed, usually calibrated in RPM (revolutions per minute); an instrument for measuring speed or units.

...or more to the point: A tachometer is a device used for measuring the speed of a moving body or substance (from Greek: tachos = speed, metron = measure).
