I like this one a lot. And Great Scott, that's quite an explanation! Sad stories though. Why can't there be more happy extinction stories, like that of the dreaded three-horned baby-snatching Ghanaian blood ape?

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I know the info. on the birds were lengthy, but I felt the need to include it. I hope it's found to be interesting and informative.

the ivory-billed woodpecker has been proven NOT to be extinct after all, and is still alive (national geographic)

Cool! I guess the author of my bird book was wrong!

It is believed the Ivory Bill Woodpecker may still be alive, but it has not yet been substantiated. The National Geographic article was about the bird and the massive searches that have been conducted. There have been numerous credible sightings, but the searches were unable to locate and thereby corroborate the sightings.

Fun teaser!

One other piece of info. on this woodpecker is that the bill and crest were valued as decoration by Native Americans and early hunters, and because of this, they were shot.

Glad you like this teaser!

I may - but it takes a long time to put this type of teaser together. Maybe once the kids get back to school. I'm glad you enjoyed these bird teasers. Ya just made me smile today . . . Thanks.

I liked this one. Only inaccuracy is that they're still looking for the ivory-billed woodpecker.
