Brain Teasers
A Triangle Related
Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
Three that fall into a triangle related
Can be found by reading my lines.
So read each clue very carefully to see
What you discover using your minds.
If you take the sixteenth and the second and combine them,
You'll find the first of three.
Once used in the past when one needed a change of colors,
But no longer used for our safety.
Next, not a noun like above,
But spelled the same, no mistake.
In meaning to conduct or to guide,
Also, to bring or to take.
Last of all you shall find
A homophone to the first one,
But it is the same as the second,
Only already done.
Now using the clues tell me,
What are the related three?

Hint
The title only implies that each word is related to the other two in some way or another...it is not a clue.Answer
The three related are lead, lead, and led.Lead, the element, has a symbol, Pb. The sixteenth letter of the alphabet is P, and the second, b. Combine the two to get Pb, lead.
Also, at one time, lead was used in certain color paints, but it was eventually discovered that lead in paint was hazardous, so it is no longer used for this purpose.
Lead, the verb, means to conduct, to guide, to bring, or to take. It is spelled the same as lead (Pb), but is pronounced differently.
Led is pronounced like lead (Pb), but is past tense of lead (the verb), and therefore is lead (the verb) already done.

A very excellent teaser...keep 'em comin'
I loved it. I read it while watching the going home show of American Idol so I skim read it and didn't confuse myself, so I figured it out. Great teaser.
Really a great, wonderful teaser! It took a lot of thought, but I got it eventually!
Excellent riddle!
For some reason, I actually thought of the periodic table in the line "take the sixteenth and the second" but I applied it the wrong way -- I was trying to make a "compound" out of Sulfur and Helium (Elements 16 and 2, respectively) and I concluded that "She" was one of the words. When I later got "Led" I was completely confused.
Doh! Great riddle though.

That was a GREAT teaser. I didn't put much thought into it since it isn't for an official MENSA test and I would have had to look on the web for the Pb meaning since I haven't studied the elements, but I was close to the correct answer.
