Good Teaser!
Thanks
Nice one. Would never have guessed patch, however.
Aarrgghh! I'm just no good at this kind of puzzle. Don't know why. The answers seem simple and obvious enough once you see them.
WHAT IS A PUFF ADDER??
I got the first two immediately--after that..... 3 & 5 I should have gotten but didn't put any time into them. #4 I would never have gotten since 'patch pocket' doesn't mean anything here in the good ol' USA. Any compatriots beg to differ?
I do love this kind of puzzle tho' (you can tell by my handle). Thanks for submitting!
Excellent word selection. Got them all.
Puff adder is a snake found mainly in southern Africa.

I missed #2 - I couldn't think of "puff," so put "spread" - like spreading cheese - and spreading adder. (Isn't there a "spreading adder?"
I know, I know, it's a stretch.
It was fun, though! Thanks!

...oh, yes - it was "cream," not "cheese!"
nice quiz.... but what do you mean by patch pocket? I guess I understand it but don't think Ive ever heard the term.
patch pocket is a pocket made by sewing a shaped piece of material to a garment( shirt, blouse, pants) usually of a different material, color,or design than the garment.
I don't know how I managed to miss so many when they should have been so easy. Must be having some senior moments. I really liked it, just couldn't get most of them.
Fun and easy. Just what I needed today. Thanks for posting.
NICE
I'm with wordmama, a "Patch Pocket" and "Puff adder" aren't familiar terms to most Americans.
Just because your vocabulary doesn't have a particular word in it doesn't mean that's true for all or even most other Americans, it just means your vocabulary needs some work.
Never heard of a puff adder
Never heard of "Patch Pocket" either. My vocabulary doesn't need that much work...
The term patch pocket is familiar to me and I think it is very American. It's just a flat pocket on the outside of a shirt, jacket or pants. And a puff adder is a type of snake. Maybe they aren't too common, but they aren't words foreign to Americans.
A puff adder is a snake so anyone COULD know it, but a "patch pocket" seems like it's some kind of quaint regional term for something that nearly everybody else just calls a pocket.
A shoulder patch is more of a shoulder badge in my world but at least I'm fully aware of the alternate name. Patch pocket simply would never register as anything at all. Now that I've googled the term, the images all just look like what I'd call just pockets.

A fun quiz but I too didn't get 2 n 4 just didn't think of it that is all. Good one.
Like so many I did not get #2 either. Do not know nor ever heard of a puff adder. How many people have??
I've heard of a puff adder but it didn't help me here.
4/5 Totally did not get #4.
nice one...did not get them all even though I have definitely heard of Patch Pocket!!
For those that have not heard of a "Puff Adder" it is an overweight mathematician.
Sorry. I couldn't help myself.
Actually it is a snake.

I got them all easily except for #4. I missed it only because my forgetter was working better than my rememberer this evening. I worked many years as a nurse and all of my scrub tops had patch pockets which were so handy for carrying alcohol swabs, scissors and all of the other necessary items. Anyway - nice teaser - it was fun!
I love dsit's comment. Made me chuckle. A little humor now and then is good for you!
Only missed number 4. Now I'm thinking of Mrs. Patchpockets the kangaroo. I know it wasn't intentional, but I wish your puzzle hadn't reminded me of Fun in Balloon Land.
Nice teaser Jazz, thanks!
Interestingly, I've been solving puzzles for over 50 years down under, have worked in a Museum Library & have never heard of: "Patch-Pocket" or "Candy-Dish"?

Not bad. I did not have the attention span to sit and ponder those I did not get quickly. Good thing too. I've never heard of either 'patch' phrase.
Fun and entertaining teaser; I got all but "patch". Never heard of "patchpocket".
