surely an outside wall, regardless of how many corners it has is still only one wall as it encircles a building. it is a continuous wall, not several seperate walls.

Well if that's the case, where does the saying 'inside these four walls' come in? Because it would only be one wall.

Of course houses have lots of walls and not one. This was interesting because I didn't know that the Pentagon ws composed of three concentric buildings. Thanks.

There are lots more than 50... Each side of the pentagon has 2 corridors, these 10 corridors each have 8 outside walls (facing the spaces between the "rings"), and they also intersect (and divide) the "rings" themselves, giving a total of 210 exterior walls, minus the closed-off partitions (you'll have to Google-Image search for that one )
